Heidi Boghosian on RNC protests, Ellen Frank on state of the economy

The protests against the Republican National Convention might go down in history as the largest at any political convention. Police and city officials won media praise for keeping things orderly, but the story of mass arrests and detentions received only passing mention. CounterSpin will talk to Heidi Boghosian of the National Lawyers Guild about the RNC arrests and the media tendencies that encourage the stifling of free speech.

Also this week: the question of job creation is still in the news, but with reports like the San Francisco Chronicle's "US employment glass is either half-empty or half-full," it can be hard to make sense of the information. We’ll hear from Ellen Frank, senior economic analyst at the Poverty Institute at Rhode Island University, and author of The Raw Deal: How Myths and Misinformation about the Deficit, Inflation and Wealth Impoverish America.
