Time magazine’s Joe Klein has read George W. Bush’s memoir, and has a few criticisms (11/11/10); for instance, he points out that Bush

never stops to wonder if the UN inspectors, whom Saddam Hussein had allowed back into Iraq, were not finding weapons of mass destruction because, maybe, uh, the WMD didn’t exist.
That’s a good question, but it’s not surprising that Bush didn’t raise it, since Bush has repeatedly claimed that Saddam Hussein did not allow weapons inspectors into Iraq in the first place. As FAIR pointed out in an Action Alert (“Media Still Letting Bush Lie on Iraq Inspectors,” 12/2/08), Bush peddled this absurd falsehood to ABC‘s Charlie Gibson, who failed to challenge him:
GIBSON: If the intelligence had been right, would there have been an Iraq War?
BUSH: Yes, because Saddam Hussein was unwilling to let the inspectors go in to determine whether or not the U.N. resolutions were being upheld.
The Washington Post‘s write-up (12/1/08) of the interview praised Bush’s “new candor.”
The alert noted that this wasn’t Bush’s first attempt to rewrite history:
As FAIR pointed out (7/18/03), in July 2003 Bush made a similar comment (“We gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn’t let them in”), which the Post soft-pedaled by saying these words “appeared to contradict the events leading up to war this spring.” And reporter Robert Parry (Consortium News, 12/2/08) noted after the ABC interview that Bush has made similar declarations (1/27/04, 3/21/06, 5/24/07 )–none of which generated much interest from the corporate media.
If these utterances had received more attention at the time, reporters like Joe Klein would surely be more familiar with them. But Bush’s fantasy was kept quiet–perhaps because reporting it widely would have sent a message that Bush had no idea what he was doing.

The current memoir only proves that bush by his own admission is a war criminal and a bigot.
Yeah, jerry s, it does, unequivocally, but you know what? He’s free to drink martinis, and watch the sun rise, isn’t he? As FAIR has pointed out in this and a few other posts, no one is challenging him on even the most obvious lies and insane, narcissistic yammerings. (His phony anger about being labelled a racist–correctly– by Kanye West is truly something to behold.) His “book” tour, and the attendant palavering and groveling and ass-kissing by the press, are nothing but a big Fuck You to the entire civilized world, an insult to reason, and an abiding contempt for history and the memories and yearnings of ordinary people. A middle finger raised up, laughingly, by the idiot son of the plutocracy. This is what they think of us–our laws and rules, and morals, and decency–they send out the criminally insane, to be coddled by knaves–a mockery of all that’s right in the world.
I suppose it’s ironical that, since Gov. Bush’s book is mostly made up of press accounts and other peoples’ printed accounts, he had no source material for a more accurate memoir.

Your hatred of all things Bush is well known guys. Inflamed by the fact that you couldn’t lay a glove on him for 8 years(and seemingly still cant). Wont get into the fact that it is YOU who sound deranged…..but I must pose the question.Did Saddam carry any of the blame for the war in your eyes?Or was he just an innocent bystander?
In “defense” of Bush’s plagiarism, he didn’t assemble “his” book–he’s no more capable of writing a book than he is of reading one. His ghostwriter–or, more to the point, his ghost plagiarist–is the real culprit. Bush put his name on it, of course, but one must never forget, when writing about Bush, that one is dealing with what Michael Moore correctly labeled a “fictitious president.”
Classicliberal12…More of the same from you lot.All libs are brilliant and all Rs are handicapped.Heard it all before.Last election shows how alone you are in this estimate.Look-Bush thrashed the best your liberal machine could throw at him for 8 long years. He sent every world leader who opposed him home with hat in hand. Not one of you laid a glove on him in those 8 years. Two years out and you are still yapping around his heels. He either is the most brilliant ,devious maciavellian leader to ever hold office(the reason he slapped you all around like red headed step children).Or a complete moron(and what does that say for the world you included )that had everyone dancing to his tune for those 8 years?Sorry it does not add up.Policy disagreements are fine.”Never read a book”?…….He happens to be a voracious reader .His grades were comparable to BAMS in as fine a school.(Well what we can glean from Obamas sealed records anyway)He did poorly in Occidental college which leads me to wonder how in the hell he entered Harvard. My experience is Harvard only takes the highest grade points. So your guess is as good as mine.Bams IQ is reported to be 116.Bush 132.Bush was a fighter pilot who scored highest in tactics in his class. His instructor said at the time that he was one of the best- ballsiest men he ever instructed.Obama was a…..community activist whatever that means. No you simply are doing what you always do.Paint with that broad Brush of yours for the leftist numb skulls that buy into your stupidity.Im no Bush fan.But good lord man look at the imbecile you have left in charge. And i mean that in reflection of his policies ,deeds, and words. What ever Bush was ,this is surely worse.
“Classicliberal12â┚¬Ã‚¦More of the same from you lot.All libs are brilliant and all Rs are handicapped.Heard it all before.”
Whether you have or not, you haven’t heard it from me, and that fact that you would attribute it to me without having ever heard it from me throws into serious question your assertion that you’ve heard such an extraordinary thing from anyone. This may all just add up to a serious reading comprehension problem on your part.
“Last election shows how alone you are in this estimate.”
Bush was running in the last election? That he didn’t win (because he wasn’t, in fact, running) means my estimation of him is wrong? I think you’re just confused.
“Not one of you laid a glove on him in those 8 years.”
By the time the 2008 election rolled around, Bush’s approval rating, measured by Gallup, was 25%–only two points higher than the lowest presidential approval rating ever recorded in the history of polling (the CBS News poll, at the same time, had him at 20%, which would have beaten the record). His disapproval rating, at the same time, was 70%–the highest disapproval rating ever recorded. It beat the previous record, set by Bush himself, which had beaten the previous record, also set by Bush himself, which had beaten the previous record, set by Harry Truman at the low point of his administration (the CNN/Opinion Research poll, at the same time, had Bush’s disapproval rating even higher, at 76%). That would suggest my estimation of his administration seems much closer to that of the rest of America than does your own.
Michael e, why do you post on FAIR? you are nothing but an apologist for the right and FOX not news. You suck up to the Bush war crimnal and generally make comments that does nothing but inflame. just stop!!!
When people post incendiary messages in places where they’re sure to be disagreed with, presumably they do this because they enjoy angering people they disagree with. If that’s the case, then getting angry with them is giving them exactly what they want.
If you think someone is genuinely interested in having a rational argument, then you should offer them an argument. If you think they aren’t interested in having a reasonable conversation, then you should consider them to be a troll and ignore them.
In summary, FAIR stated, “But Bush’s fantasy was kept quiet–perhaps because reporting it widely would have sent a message that Bush had no idea what he was doing”. I will never let GWB off the hook that easily. I get so tired of hearing about his mental defficiencies. I agree that he never was the brightest bulb in the string, and all of the booze and drugs probably didn’t improve his intellect any. But the notion that he was no more than a puppet on Karl Rove’s string belies the evidence for the greater truth. He grew up in a disfunctional family of Psychotics and psychopaths, not idiots. He learned to lie young and a lot and never grew out of it. When you do something a lot, you get very good at it. He was the life of the party and loved the attention. None in the family were very curious, just selfish and ambitious, and jealous of those who learned for knowledge’s sake (good ol’ boys with little knowledge think their simplistic “common sense” solutions are better than thoughtfull, well researched ones). Using his family’s position and the people whose ideals he liked, to advance his personal agenda (wealth and power) were his way of fitting in. He’s a flawed man, working with other flawed men to do what they thought was best, for themselves and their idology. And the were all certain they were allways right. As Colbert said at the Correspondents dinner in 06′, they knew the same thing on Thursday that they knew on Tuesday, regardless of what happened on Wednesday. They all need the light of day shed on their administration’s actions, and until it happens, we cannot ever heal.
Please stop replying to this idiot troll.
It is just here to disrupt.
You can not reason with it.
It is not interested in a reasoned debate of Ideas.
It is incapable of having them.
You may as well argue with a Baboons ass
as try to converse with this shit stain.
Thanks Trollkiler! now I’m gonna have to try to scrub the immage of a shit stained baboons ass out of my brain. Almost as repulsive as a Right wing idealogue (shudder).
After what the Bush cabal did to Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame for speaking the truth . . . is it surprising?
There is a video clip of David Gregory trying to ask Bush a probing question about terrorism, and Bush cut him off, saying, “those people are a threat to your childern, a threat to your childern, do you understand?”
Mafia tactics, Bush uses.
That interview is here:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/05/24/president-to-reporter-the_n_49238.html
David Gregory was asking Bush why he should be considered a more credible source about terrorism than the US intelligence community?
Bush: “those people are a threat to your children”
Note that the link to the CNN video has been removed. . .
Bush really scares people . . .
Uh, what Jim Naureckas said. Keep this in mind, and we all know who he’s talking about.
Instead of pointing out how well your man is doing(Obama)you continue to run against Bush and heap insults upon people (me). And so it goes.Your learning curve changed little during the last election Ive noticed.Let us see if the coming presidential election can ease you into a different tone.I think it may take time. But sooner or later you will get it.The trolls have transcended you.
@Michael E. – George Bushs sent us into Iraq based upon a lie that weapons of mass destruction existed. They did not. That is not an insult – that is a simple fact. Now we are some 1 Trillion dollars in debt, have lost countless REAL American heroes and heroines fighting a war we did not need to fight, kkilled hundreds of thousands of people we did not need to kill, and spent trillions of dollars of treasure so that a few crooks could “get rich” stealing money out of Iraq with phony contracts to do nothing (can you say $19 Billion missing form Iraq?).
So before you start your lies and insults – get down and really tell a veteran how much you appreciate him getting a TBI or losing his legs or sight or ability to survive when you cuts his or her benefits because “they knew what they signed up for” or some other horseshit you’d like us to believe.
Why don’t you just go an stuff your head back up you arse and stake a good whiff of what you’re spewing there pal? It’s really rotten to the core how ready you are to send our sons and daughters off to fight, but not a one of your children went off to die. No, no, they’re “too good” to waste on the war.
You make me sick. You ARE th troll here pal. You stole our freedom, our wealth and BETRAYED America with a false war and have killed and ripped off our country so you could get rich. That’s called treason in my book, and I will never forget it.
Like an amoeba, Michael e responds to a variety of stimuli with a single response. And like an amoeba, that may be the extent of his range.
Chuck
Your view of Bush is erroneous and horribly skewed as my guess your view of America is.It is called setting the stage. You say “based upon a lie”.Not faulty intel- but a lie.
We are far far more than a trillion in debt- (and what percentage of that would you believe of that is war debt.)The men we lost?Of course that is the cost of any conflict.Take a look at how many we lost in peacetime (Clinton) compared to war.It is startling. We did not need to fight?I suppose we do not need to fight now then.Though your man(Obama) who has the top secret intel seems to believe otherwise as Bush did in his time.So who is it talking out of his arse? And you made a horrible omission. You forgot to blame Saddam in any way shape or form for what transpired.Im sure it was just an oversight so i will let it go.
Your blaming me or accusing me of getting rich on others misery or sending people to war is also strange unless you mean in some philosophical way.Look I never voted for Bush.I am no fan of Bush.I did not support the way the Iraq war began. So Im not sure why you are venting my way.Suffice it to say though I have a balance perspective that is not delusional.I do not blame Bush for all the worlds ills.Or Obama for that matter. As much as I disagree with Obama on policy I certainly would never categorize him as a Hitler or a Saddam as you seem all too willing to do with Bush. This is the liberal Bush derangement syndrome on full display.I have no hatred for any loony libs. How bout you pal?You ready to swear off hatred of Bush and Palin. No didn’t think so.Again who is the hater?
For ten years I talked against the liberal socialist insanity of Fanny and Freddy.I ended every speech with “when this falls everything will come crashing down”I was told nonsensical things like that I was steeling your “freedom wealth and that I hated the poor.Chuck i was right ….and your kind was wrong.Dead wrong.Wanna go double or nothing with the crazy liberal a genda?
TRoll one out
Jim Naureckas: Thank you for speaking the quiet truth for which I hope you will be rewarded.
Michael e., Punctuation lesson: space after commas and periods. It is difficult to read your drivel if you don’t do this. On second thought, keep your bad punctuation, and I’ll just know when I see your name that drivel follows. Then just ignore it.
