Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor acknowledged on Al Jazeera English (4/14/12) that Iranian leaders have never called for Israel to be “wiped” off the map.
Meridor agreed with interviewer Teymoor Nabili’s suggestion that the supposed remarks were never actually made; Iranian leaders, Meridor said,
come basically ideologically, religiously, with the statement that Israel is an unnatural creature, it will not survive. They didn’t say “we’ll wipe it out,” you are right, but [that] it will not survive, it is a cancerous tumor, it should be removed.
Hostile words, to be sure, but not the menacing threat endlessly reported in corporate U.S. media in recent years. (Iran, Israel and “wiped off the map” occur together more than 8,500 times in the Nexis news database in the last seven years.)
Of course, Mideast expert and blogger Juan Cole noted long ago that Ahmadinejad never called for Israel to be wiped off the map, but Meridor’s interview suggests that there is hope this information might finally penetrate the corporate media bubble.
A New York Times blog (Lede, 4/18/12) wrote up the Al Jazeera interview (“Israeli Minister Agrees Ahmadinejad Never Said Israel ‘Must Be Wiped Off the Map.'”) Though the Lede‘s lede was somewhat grudging, suggesting the Persian language was partly to blame for the confusion (“In a reminder that Persian rhetoric is not always easy for English-speakers to interpret…”), it nevertheless indicated a clean break from earlier media insistence that the threatening remarks, coupled with a supposed Iranian nuclear weapons program, posed an existential threat to Israel.
The Times has used the shopworn Ahmadinejad canard on several occasions. “Wipe Israel ‘Off the Map,’ Iranian Says,” was the paper’s October 27, 2005 headline; a January 19, 2010 report stated matter-of-factly: “The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says Iran’s nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. He has also denied the Holocaust and called for Israel to be wiped off the map.” Other Times stories have acknowledged doubts about the claim (6/11/06, 1/8/11), but the paper has never conclusively established the context and meaning of remarks, despite the fact that Jonathan Steele, an Iranian expert who writes for the London Guardian, tried to explain it to Times reporter Ethan Bronner (6/11/06) :
The Iranian president was quoting an ancient statement by Iran’s first Islamist leader, the late Ayatollah Khomeini, that “this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time,” just as the Shah’s regime in Iran had vanished. He was not making a military threat. He was calling for an end to the occupation of Jerusalem at some point in the future. The “page of time” phrase suggests he did not expect it to happen soon.
Other media outlets have expressed even less doubt that Iran is hell-bent for Israel’s annihilation. “Iran’s president unleashes another warning to Israel, declaring once again that the Jewish state will be wiped off the map, and soon,” remarked CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer (Situation Room, 6/2/08). “Since Ahmadinejad took office four years ago,” announced CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric (9/23/09), “he’s built a reputation as a provocateur, saying Israel should be wiped off the map.” As a recentWashington Post op-ed (4/1/12) by Dennis Ross and David Makovsky explained, “Israel is the only country that Iran has repeatedly threatened to wipe off the map.”
Over the years, two key claims have sustained hostility toward Iran in official circles and the media: that it is attempting to manufacture nuclear weapons, and that it wants to wipe Israel off the map.
The first claim, though now contradicted by American officials and the CIA, who say there’s no proof Iran is currently working on nuclear weapons, nevertheless survives in the media as sort of unkillable zombie lie.
It remains to be seen if the bogus charge that Iran has vowed to wipe Israel off the map will be as resilient, even after a top Israeli official has acknowledged its inaccuracy.

Throughout the long and literally twisting history of the American media establishment, it has been remarkably consistent in never letting the facts get in the way of a facile demonization.
Another of many Noble Lies told by the corporate media for the “greater good” of the nation; or so they would have us believe.
Hello Steve,
I understand your argument that Ahmadinejad’s famous quote constitutes more of a wish or a prediction than an actual threat. This may be the case, however, it should be noted that he has repeated this “wish” numerous times in various different forms and he never really bothers to clarify that Iran will not be the one doing the “wiping”. This kind of language, in the Middle East, is considered quite threatening. Secondly, you neglected to mention that the NYT article you yourself referred to includes a picture of an Iranian missile with a banner hanging on it featuring the “Israel must be uprooted and wiped off [the pages of] history” quote. How exactly are we supposed to interpret that kind of message? Even if Iran’s president is simply stating his desire and not explicitly saying “we will destroy you” – that is about as explicit as world leaders get. Meanwhile, lower ranking regime members can get away with a little more – check out pages 16-17 of the following paper:
http://www.jcpa.org/text/ahmadinejad2-words.pdf
I am an Israeli who does not support the Netanyahu government and I am also against an attack on Iran, but considering all the above, it’s not very surprising that Israel’s leaders are still worried about the threat of a nuclear Iran even though Ahmadinejad chooses to be relatively indirect in his statements.
Shai,
You claim “he never really bothers to clarify that Iran will not be the one doing the ‘wiping'” but that isn’t true. He has made it clear but mainstream media has suppressed his solution: democracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZVDuZbk3eg&list=PL5882411FB1FA928E&feature=plpp_play_all
in addition to that: “There is no new policy,” Ahmadinejad said. “They created a lot of hue and cry over that.” Ahmadinejad added, “It is clear what we say: Let the Palestinians participate in free elections and they will say what they want.”
“It is not amazing at all, the pick-and-choose approach of highlighting the misinterpreted remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in October and ignoring this month’s remarks by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that ‘We have no problem with the world. We are not a threat whatsoever to the world, and the world knows it. We will never start a war. We have no intention of going to war with any state.'”
Pass it on ˜ž http://Tinyurl.com/WarPropagandaExposed
Shai, Ahmadinejad is indirect about his remarks. But the US and Israel are quite direct about their desire to bomb the hell out of Iran and spread nuclear waste all over the country. By the way, your depiction of the Iranian missile with the banner reminded me of a picture I saw of Israeli schoolgirls signing missiles headed for Gaza in the 2008 massacre!
Historically, the only country which has been wiped out from the map in modern time – is 5,000 year-old Palestine. Israelis are known for fabricating some of world’s greatest hoax. The so-called “wipe Israel off the map” is one them. It was created by Israel propaganda arm, MEMRI, by translating Ahmadinejad’s statement of “the end of Zionism and Zionist regime in the region” into “wipe off Israel”. It’s no different than Zionists’ new Jewish religion of Holocaust.
Elie Wiesel recently advised Zionist crowd: ‘Don’t equate Iran with Holocaust’
http://rehmat1.wordpress.com/2012/04/20/elie-wiesel-dont-equate-iran-with-holocaust/
“shopworn canard” – that’s probably why orange sauce was confected…
It’s more than about time that the true translation of his statement has finally been acknowledged and printed. However, as The Idiot Bush Administration stated and proved~if you tell a lie over and over again people will eventually believe it~and that’s the unfortunate situation with this lie.
This particular lie, more than likely created by the Israel propaganda team, MEMRI, is far from the only lie they have perpetuated in the past 65 years. In addition, the main stream corporate media has been lying to Americans and to the rest of the world for decades.
One needs only to read The NY Post and/or listen to FOX “News” to read and hear the latest lies on a never ending basis~but the NYTimes and The WSJournal have their pages full of them too.
When the extreme power of the media lies in the hands of 5-6 corporations and hence in the hands of only a few people, the said media outlets will promote nothing but what they want you to hear, which might have little or nothing to do with the truth.
Not to worry. The Edge a Sketchers members of the Israeli Hasbara machine will completely ignore this and plow on with the lie until it becomes the truth. That is something they learned well from Hitler.
Shai says: “…Israel’s leaders are still worried about the threat of a nuclear Iran even though Ahmadinejad chooses to be relatively indirect in his statements.”
And the rest of the world is worried about the threat of nuclear Israel even though Netanyahoo chooses to portray Isreal as the victim.
It seems unlikely that this lie will go away any time soon. It serves a purpose for the lunatics here and in Israel. With propagandizers from Wolf Blitzer to Sarah Palin banging the war drum incessantly for Israel, there’s no reason to be optimistic about the infamous lie leaving the scene.
Both of these are flagrant lies:
1 Iranian scientists are developing a nuclear weapon.
2 Iranian President Ahmadinejad said that Iran will wipe Israel off the map.
The first has been categorically disproved by all intelligence programs of the United States.
The second, a gross mistranslation of a quotation of an original comment (made not by Ahmadinejad himself but by Ayatollah Khomeini) does not threaten Israel. It is not a threat, nor (as has been claimed above) is it a wish. It is a prediction. It was not said about Israel, but about the Israeli regime at the time. Literally, the Ayatollah’s utterance included these specific words: “this regime, occupying Jerusalem, must vanish from the page of time.”Â
This comment by the Ayatollah has the same import as the omment made by Nikita Khrushchev in Warsaw on 18 November 1956 to US Ambassadors: “We will bury you.” Your state, along with its typical capitalist socio-economic system, is bound by its inherent nature to perish.
SOURCE for correct translation of Ayatollah Khomeini’s remarks: Tikun Olam (blog of Richard Silverstein), “‘We’ll Wipe Israel Off the Map’ and Other Things Ahmadinejad Never Said” Tuesday, December 14th, 2010.
A similar instance of misleading quotation occurred in the Cold War, when in 1956 Western media widely reported Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev to have threatened nuclear war with the United States by saying “We will bury you” – see e.g.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_will_bury_you
Sorry, split words but this is the same thing. That and the holocaust denier conferences and the peculiar rhetoric along with the failure of their leaders to clarify this over what … 10 … 20 years … does it matter?
And even if it did, even if every foreign state was angelic and peaceful, the US and our way of life would have to pick a fight with the world – and the fact is that all of us progressives, liberals, whatever do not seem to be able to do the slightest thing about it, not even discuss it productively.
Beating ourselves up or making jokes or insults does not count for beans to me … we have to educate ourselves as to the way of the world, but in this, who is the teacher. The idea of democracy and consensus seems to be so far away, what does it look like, which direction is it to a civilized peaceful sustainable world?
From world history I really am not sure the military industrial complex is not just as productive in fact more than any alternative.
Both the US and Israel know that even if Iran some time in future is forced to join the nuclear club – it will not pose any threat to either the US with over 9,000 nuclear bombs or Israel with 400 nuclear bombes. What both Zionist-controlled regimes are really affraid of – is that a nuclear Iran will make it very difficult for Zionists to achieve their long held dream of Heretz Israel.
On January 17, 2012 – Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel, head of the Israel Occupation Force (IOF) planning department, told reporters in Jerusalem that once Iran poseses nuclear arsenal, it will make hard for Israel to defeat Hamas and Hizbullah.
”ÂIf we are forced to do things in Gaza or in Lebanon – under the Iranian nuclear umbrella it might be different,” said Amir Eshel.
http://rehmat1.wordpress.com/2009/07/18/eretz-israel-and-the-two-state-solution/
I DO recall film and video of bored looking crowds chanting, yet again, “Death to Israel” and “Death to America”. Who knows what’s going on in Iran? I didn’t like the way they treated the Green protesters. Don’t like the clothes women must wear. A film by a young Iranian film maker now living in Toronto, made it look depressing. I assume they aren’t crazy enough to shoot a nuke at Israel which has hundreds of atom bombs. But must we make good guy/bad guy = left/right out of everything. If only it were that simple.
The regime in Iran would love nothing better than to be a regional power and nuclear weapons would give them that. So it’s naive to defend them on the desire to have nuclear weapons. This is what Israel doesn’t want. However, the regime in Iran would not dare to use nuclear weapons because they love power too much to risk getting wiped off the map by Israel and the US!
If we the (critical) thinkers spend our intellectual capital trying to defend Iran against “excuses” for war, the war mongers will find other excuses and we will lose the debate. Do you guys remember how many times the excuse for attacking Iraq changed back in 1991 and then again in 2002?
We must question the very premise that Iran should not have nuclear weapons. There are no laws that single out nations and prohibit them from building nuclear weapons. In light of the fact that Iran is already a signatory to the NPT that has allowed inspections while Israel, Pakistan and India aren’t even signatories with Israel denying even owning nuclear weapons, the NPT comes across as a joke.
I have a comment awaiting moderation so I wanted to say that those interested in a counter argument to the claim above that “he never really bothers to clarify that Iran will not be the one doing the ‘wiping'” you can see my recent videos and blog post. (the blog has the message I tried to post here)
I love these semantics.Iran has used threatening words, phrases, pictures(go down the main Ave in Tehran) for years now.You will find no acknowledgement of Israel’s right to exist in the Iranian leaderships word play. You will find tons going the other way. Some of it more dangerous sounding than others. The steel glove or the steel glove encased in silk.A thin smile of contempt, or blatant hatred.Watch your teeth either way.I don’t even know if the Farsi language has a phrase like “wipe off the map”.But lets not find a false safety in -did they say exactly this or exactly that.they have said enough. In action and deed…and words, to be counted among Israel’s(and the US) enemies.Of course Im always open to new info.Has anyone one these blogs seen any press releases that are friendly ,or hopeful of friendship with Israel from the Iranian leadership?
Rehmut “force Iran to join the nuclear club”?Interesting “oily’ way of looking at it I must say.Double speak.Does that one word( “force”) exonerate them from breaking their sacred vow?Iran has promised they will not now, or at any time in the future ,weaponize in that way. They have even said it is against their faith. They say a lot of things. They should know we will hold them to their lies.Excuse me ……….their sworn”Promises”.
michael e, the Iranian regime does not want to wipe Israel off the map any more than Israel and many in the US want to wipe Iran off the map. Israel and the US constantly threaten (against international law) to bomb Iran with “no options off the table”. So, if Iran had the military might of the US and Israel, would it be OK for it to demand that they disarm their nuclear arsenal because of their threats? Israel and its lapdog (the US) are bullying Iran solely because they have power and even though the rest of the world resent them and consider those two countries to be the #1 and #2 threats to peace, they remain silent out of fear of reprisal.
I know of no sane person who can possibly defend Iran’s domestic and foreign policies. I have particular grievance with that government. They captured, tortured and executed my best friend who was destined to be a world-class architect.
My problem is with this cavalier attitude towards bombing nuclear facilities in Iran. I know that victims of US imperial misadventures are totally invisible to its citizens (e.g. Vietnam, Hiroshima, etc.). But those who advocate for bombing Iran (often without exhausting any other option), see innocent Iranians as un-persons fit to be callously written off as collateral damage. Iran is standing up to the Empire and its master (Israel) and that is pissing imperialists off, so the bullies want to use their muscles against a weak and passive-aggressive “big mouth”Â! Innocent people will be sacrificed by both sides…
My second problem is with the double-standard of allowing for instance Pakistan (an exporter and protector of terrorists) to have nuclear weapons because they are our allies (more accurately proxy government) in South Asia.
michael e, by insinuating that Iran would even dream of committing suicide by nuking Israel you are reducing Iranians (albeit the leadership) to an exception to humanity against all historical and present day evidence! You are too educated and intelligent to fall prey to that sorry old propaganda technique.
Another old propaganda trick is pretending that US proxy ‘israel’ is independent or even
holds its benefactor ‘hostage’: imperialism IS zionist, without it ‘israel’ wouldn’t exist &
without US support would ‘disappear from history’:
israel is u.s. proxy — read the following — stop promoting disinformation that serves u.s. zionist imperialism!
Peres: Israel Needs US for Existence
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article26661.htm
Israeli President Shimon Peres: “We cannot exist alone. For our existence we need the friendship of the United States of America. It doesn’t sound easy, but this is the truth,” he said. In a speech to Jewish leaders Thursday evening broadcast by Israel Army Radio, Peres urged the Israelis to try to meet US demands in order to be assured of their existence.

BEIRUT: Israeli President Shimon Peres said the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad would deliver the “death blow” to Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Israeli website Ynet reported.
“Until now, we have avoided striking strategic targets in Lebanon, but if missiles are fired at us we will know how to respond,” Ynet quoted Peres as saying as he toured the occupied Golan Heights with Israeli Army Chief of Staff Benny Gantz. Peres said that whatever happens in Syria would influence Israel’s “defense campaign.”Â

US Stockpiling More Weapons in Israel
4/22/12 http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/154993#.T5S9SI5pfR2
A Congressional report reveals the U.S. has stockpiled in Israel $800 million worth of weapons for emergencies and the amount may grow by 50 percent
The equipment was transferred to Israel for use by the United States in case of war, and Israel may use the weapons in case of emergency and with American approval…the US gave approval during the Second Lebanon War in 2006 for the IDF to use some of the weapons. The U.S. military command in Europe, EUCOM, is responsible for the military equipment stored in Israel. The equipment originally stored in Israel was worth approximately $100 million, grew to $800 million two years ago.An amendment to a Congressional law allows the value of the emergency cache to be increased to $1.12 billion.
Congress to Boost US Aid to Israel Missile ‘Defense’
Jason Ditz, http://news.antiwar.com/2012/04/21/house-bill-would-add-680-million-to-israel-military-aid/
April 21, 2012 – A new bill moving quickly through the House Armed Services Committee is set to add another $680 million to the billions in annual military aid the US provides Israel, the funding earmarked to pay for more for the “Iron Dome” missile system, a very short range system initially defunded by the Israel in 2010 as too expensive and not reliable. ..The US subsequently footed the entire bill to deploy the missiles in Israel, citing Iran as the justification though the missiles are only designed to tackle small, short-range rockets, not the long-range missiles for use in a war with Iran. Pentagon officials pushing the funding, say the Iron Dome system was a great success in recent attacks on the Gaza Strip, and “saved many lives.” Israeli officials reported that the system was almost entirely useless
USAF Commander: Israel aided US Effort in Iraq, Afghanistan

The U.S. Air Force Commander awarded the Legion of Merit to Israel Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Ido Nechushtan, [who] received the decoration this week during a working visit to the U.S. The visit included numerous professional meetings and a close look at the future IAF combat aircraft, the F-35 aircraft .the IAF Website reports.
“He has solidified military ties between the United States and Israel and promoted Israel’s participation in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program. IAF’s accumulated experience in operational anti-terror activity helped US in Iraq, Afghanistan.”
The question does remain….Is the Iranian leadership insane?I believe their religious leaders in the ruling body are.I believe Ahmadinejad(there are no gays in Iran)is also.Is that clear enough for you?
Look michael, the same question can be asked about the leaders of the US and Israel. The US has been at war continuously since WW2 and not a single one of them just (not even Yugoslavia). The US started a war in Iraq and killed 1,000,000 innocent people who had done nothing to us all based on blatant lies! Israel recently committed massacre in Gaza and bombed the hell out of Lebanon a couple years before that. Who is more insane?
Just because you have power and technology it doesn’t mean that you have wisdom and sanity. This is what I mean when I say most people in this country are imperialists (even those on the so-called left). When you think you can pick on little nations but they can’t resist your bullying. Where did Americans get the notion that they have their own act together enough to make decisions for the rest of the world (especially weak nations of brown people, increasingly Muslim ones)? You have so many problems here yourself. I mean so many unemployed and exploited, so many without health insurance, so many nuts who deny global warming and Darwin’s Theory, so many in prisons. The only reason why people like you talk so arrogantly about countries like Iran is because you think you are somehow superior. Well, I’ve got news for you. We are the laughingstock of the rest of the world. The majority of the people (not governments) of the world resent us and consider us (and Israel) the biggest threat to peace.
Ahmadinejad is a sycophantic loser who has won his position because of his ideology and obedience to the Mullahs who are self-righteous tyrannical theocrats who are forcing their medieval way of thinking on the poor people of Iran using machine guns. The leaders of Iran are no more crazy than the military Juntas in Pakistan and Egypt and the ruthless misogynist Saudi family. It’s just that the latter are “our” allies.
But Iran has not transgressed against any other country in over 200 years. The same cannot be said about US and Israel! Who is more crazy (aggressive) here? Citizens of a powerful country such as this need to be a lot more careful when they talk about attacking other countries. These are innocent people we are talking about. They are not extras in some cheap Hollywood movie. Attacking Iran will doubly victimize the people there who are trying to free themselves from 30 years of tyranny…

Right.. never trust a muslim.
Freespirit…two things.Number one we can kick out our “insanity”every four years if need be(and please don’t tell me that Bush and Obama,Ron Paul,And Pelosi are all one and the same)…they can not. They are stuck with their insaniacs.Till death do we part.
Number two PLEASE stop this nonsensical talk that we have been at war- and they have not. They have not declared war true.Yet they have been at the heart….the literal beating heart of terrorist warfare for some time now.Much of it directed against our interests. They have not gotten their rep simply because the right, and the press, feel like having a go at them as the pick of the day.Beyond your understanding it must be that it now seems Obama sees that light as well.Top flight intel will do that to a guy. We also have not declared war for some time now.Yet you seem to clearly see from our side that that has little meaning.Understand that cuts both ways.

Thanks for the website.I think it shows that at least we cant trust “Ah Ma needs a Job”

I must say that when you say WE are the laughing stock of the world that I am a bit surprised at anyone looking at world immigration status would believe that.Do you know the country almost always first on the scene for world disaster relief?Even in North Korea C-54s arrived hours after the mud slides that killed so many.I wont bore you with how the US is always in the thick of such things. No one was laughing sir. When new developments come in farming ,medicine, technology, we are at the top of every field. No one is laughing at these amazing accomplishments. You see we may prove global warming,or we may disprove man made global warming. We may prove Darwins theory of evolution -or we may transcend that theory with a new one.We are free to go where we will.Freedom makes anyone superior. We are not genetically superior to anyone. Our freedoms give us unique advantage. For every man to rise to his highest potential. To deny Americas contribution to mankind is blindness.
You say we have problems. We do.Our form of government, and constitutional freedom along with the rugged individualism of the common American will serve us well in beating these problems. It has always been so.To see this country from the erroneous standpoint that you do- It would take a lot of study ,and unraveling of your mindset to cut through before you come to clarity. It is this strange moral relativism so prevalent in the left in this country and Eurocentric people that buys into it.We see D day as blood shed to free France from tyrany. Is there another way of looking at it?Absolutely. Some frenchmen with different views fired back at us.We offer our hands to freedom across the world. To Democracy.Have we been successful?Look at a map in 1950.Look at it now.Our efforts have helped to give freedom to hundreds of millions.Maybe we never should of tried at all.According to you and others like you.So you see the glass as half empty. We don’t even know the meaning of that. What a blessed country this is.
michael, you need to do some traveling man.
Free spirit
I have traveled the world.I will continue to.Do you have some belief that only hayseeds who never leave their farms are in love with this great land? That only they wave the flag and eat their apple pie?Has the left driven it out of you(patriotic pride) convincing you it is your educated elitism that lets you see the truth over all the rabble?Shame on you.
For me traveling the four corners of the world has been an education of the potential in people everywhere.Held back often only by a lack of freedom. We still offer that freedom. This is the worlds melting pot.Where anyone can achieve anything.I have a colleague.A brilliant surgeon/businesswoman who plans to run for the Senate. Her father came here from Italy and worked for NY sanitation. He and his wife could not read or speak English. They never took one dime in Government assistance. Her brother is a nuclear physicist .Two children who grew up with little…. but an endless supply of hope. Her daughter just got into Harvard. His son Colombia. One, and two generations from a simple man and woman who emigrated and believed in this country.Your only answer is to pull people down with a sullen “you couldn’t do that now”.That is not an uncommon story. That IS the story of this country.Im sorry you don’t believe that.
NEW VIDEO: Israel’s Deputy PM admits Iran DIDN’T threaten to wipe Israel out
When Israel agrees to have inspection of their nuclear weapons and facilities, I’ll believe they sincerely want to be an adult in the Middle East instead of the spoiled child they seem to prefer being. It’s becoming more and more evident that people are no longer believing in the innocence of Israel. Actions do speak louder than words. Sadly, a dream that was positive and shared by the world has become what is now the nightmare of Zionist aggression. Unfortunately, our country continues to support this insanity. An insanity that will not be cured until Israeli leadership agrees to become a part of the Middle East rather than an enemy of it. When you live in a neighborhood, it’s a good idea to get to know your neighbors and learn to appreciate them for what they are rather than stealing their land and threatening their existence.
Michael, you wouldn’t be talking about the Middle East (in particular Iran) the way you do if you had travelled there and really got to know the people. By travelling I don’t mean staying in a 5-star Western hotel either!
What a joke … the video clip is a 3 second clip played over and over to the droning background of Iranian/islamic propaganda.
Democracy as is let all the Palestinians and whoever else want to move to israel, go there, live there, and then vote in an Islamic Republic – which is what made the state of Israel necessary in the first place … there is not democracy in Iran, Palestine, Egypt or anywhere else in the middle east, except as a illusion maintained but the governing religion – and without US intervention there never will be – and they will be/ are a threat to the peace of the region.
This shows the duplicitous nature of all these discussions here at FAIR. FAIR is really great at pandering the LEFT on every subject except this one which they expect all leftists to fall in line and hate Israel.
This type of propaganda is just plain evil, and it never stops, and is in fact what makes military force necessary. If Ahmadinejad wants democracy, maybe he should stop murdering his people.
What kind of a religious government puts “death to israel” placards in mosques all around the country – and in what kind of country can only devout active Shiite Muslims succeed in life … do you think that is democracy?
This is one of the most perfect stories to show the blatant hypocrisy of radical Islamic propaganda.
I’VE been telling people this proper translation since day one. Maybe, just maybe if Americans were more prone to listen to the experts in the field instead of ten second sound bites from talking heads we’d have a coherent foreign policy. Or economic policy. Or energy policy. Etc etc ad nauseam.
I know isreal is always an agressor.
Fact; if israel is ever attacked by it’s enemys;
Isreal will appear to be a popcorn machine of underground nucs.

Who are the Evil ones?
Does Israel strap bombs to their women and children in Gaza? No. Does Palestine? Yes.
Does Israel launch rockets from their homes, schools and hospitals? No. Does Palestine? Yes
Fact #1: Israel protects its people with its missiles.
Fact #2: Palestine protects its missile with its people. Cowards!
