This week on CounterSpin: Exxon knew decades ago that the increase in CO2 from burning fossil fuels posed a global threat. And it acted on that information–with a conscious and vigorous effort to sow uncertainty about climate science and to forestall regulation on its industry. This is all coming to light now thanks to environmental journalists at InsideClimate News and elsewhere, and state attorneys general are taking note. But it will take more work from the rest of the press to turn reporting into the action necessary to address the implications. DeSmog Blog has tracked this story for years, and they’ve unearthed more information that moves the story forward. We’ll talk about what Exxon knew and what it means with DeSmog‘s executive director and managing editor Brendan DeMelle.

There is a lot Chev/exxon do not tell: charging an extra fifty cents per gallon for a fuel additive that has no better or worse, they are all the same, costing under one cant to triple the amount per gallon, so that by the time the vehicle has a hundred thousand miles, it will have cost the driver an extra $4,000.00 to $8,000.00! Yea great profit!
Error: Costing under one cent to triple…
Could someone @ FAIR fix the link to the banter segment (or what it’s pointing at)? https://fair.org/audio/counterspin/CounterSpin160429Banter.mp3 404s as of 20:50 UTC 1 May 2016.
Exxon did what was legal and normative in business practice (in America) – go for the delay and least expensive route, ie, pay a fine …eventually…and meantime rake in the profits. Simple bizness.
Deny this;
Science has NEVER said, agreed or “believed” any CO2 climate crisis was as real as they agree, believe and say smoking causes cancer.
History will judge us all as being exaggerating rednecks.
