Our guest has a different take, suggesting that Brazil’s unrest might actually be a kind of boon to Olympic officials—in that it serves to distract from the myriad problems associated with hosting the Games even when they go “smoothly.”
Jules Boykoff teaches political science at Pacific University in Oregon. He’s written three books now about the aspects of the Olympic Games that we don’t see on TV, including how activism and dissent have always been in play. His most recent book is Power Games: A Political History of the Olympics. Jules Boykoff will join us to talk about the upcoming Rio Games.

No doubt most of High Society in Brazil stand opposed to such a criminal coup d’état, what with all of the coup politicians facing a criminal investigation for fraud against the state oil company, what with all of the peoples socialist gains during a decade of socialist rule having been abolished by one stroke of a pin. Surely a CIA coup hatched in the White House and jammed down the throats of the Brazil rich nobility, a most excellent opportunity for CounterSpin to expose how Olympic politics and coup politics are one and the same corruption.
So, why not hardly a word about the coup, why in essence a total whitewash of the coup d’état?
ABORTION
A perfect solution would be for the Christian community to in unity state the following:
(1) Giving birth to a baby is a life threatening experience for the mother, this is why government does a criminal thing in forcing a mother to give birth to a baby.
(2) Giving birth is an act of love on the part of the mother, a moral decision and government destroys the moral fabric of society by making it a civil duty.
(3) Notwithstanding, “No one shall take the life of a human or unborn baby, nor do anything that may lead to their death.”
