On May 4, 2010:
What killed President Bush’s credibility? His utter claim that the reason we went to war in Iraq was to search for nuclear weapons. Because he and his people were dishonest enough to make that claim, he ended up looking like an incompetent when we fought our way into that country and are still fighting our way out, only to find there were no nuclear weapons on hand.
The incompetence became downright staggering when the commander in chief pranced on to an aircraft carrier with that “Mission Accomplished” banner flying overhead. The bozos couldn’t even get the PR right.
Flashback to Chris Matthews on “Mission Accomplished” day (5/1/03):
We’re proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who’s physical, who’s not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who’s president. Women like a guy who’s president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It’s simple. We’re not like the Brits.
And also a few weeks earlier, when a Saddam Hussein statue was pulled down in Baghdad:
Why don’t the damn Democrats give the president his day? He won today. He did well today….
We’re all neo-cons now….
What’s [Howard Dean] going to talk about a year from now, the fact that the war went too well and it’s over? I mean, don’t these things sort of lose their–isn’t there a fresh date on some of these debate points?

He’s always been against the war with Eastasia.
The Mission Accomplished banner was actually made up for the crew of the Honest Abe, not the Clown Prince George. When the neofacists heard the banner was being made, they decided to take advantage of it by sending George the Dunce. The first group of Marines in theatre could have told you there weren’t any weapons of mass delusion, but nobody listened to them. Greg Palast said our participation was primarily to stabilize the price of oil. As for the destruction of the WTC, the Pentagon explosion and the missing aircraft supposedly crashed in PA is why we need a new, independent objective investigation of 911. Pester your members of congress until they relent.
this guy is outrageous, what school did he go to? whichever school it was needs to have credentials removed.
Chris Matthews used to infuriate me when Bush was invading Iraq, he seemed to be deaf and blind to the truth. I notice now that he is much more suspicious of the Republicans, he questions their integrity, and challenges them fiercely. He has gotten his back up because of the deceit and propaganda of the Republican Party, and maybe he has learned a lesson or two since the invasion of Iraq.
That is why I can really despise what Chris Matthews said while Bush was running for president and his coverage of Bush for years. He was quite a cheerleader for these horribly corrupt republicans. Lately he has gotten more honest and sensible when discussing the dishonesty of republicans.
I watched the Matthews shows with horror in 2003. If anyone ever was an attack dog or mouthpiece for a politician, Chris Matthews was that throughout the first years of the Iraqi invasion. Finally, 6 months to a year after nearly everyone on MSNBC had admitted it was all a big lie perpetrated in large part by a compliant media, in 2009 (as I recall) Matthews started bashing Bush and more particularly Cheney.
Just from my own observations, he’s a blabbermouth whose only substance is the hot air he blows when the camera is on. He sure as hell doesn’t make my leg tingle.
Matthews worked his ass off to get Bush elected in 2000. He cheered Bush on for about seven and a half years. After the rest of the planet turned on Bush Matthews finally got the hint. I knew Obama was a fraud as soon as Matthews started pimping for him. He’s like a reverse barometer. If Matthews is supporting a pol I vote for someone else.
