Meteor Blades of Daily Kos (1/8/16) excerpted Jim Naureckas’ FAIR post (1/6/16) on how the Washington Post hyped Donald Trump’s crowd numbers. The excerpt was prefaced:
Jim Naureckas at Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting focuses on yet another of the pathetically shallow campaign analyses of Chris Cillizza at the Washington Post to how biases generate inaccuracy.
Cillizza, the blogger of the newspaper’s The Fix feature, expressed surprise at how big Donald Trump’s crowd was in Lowell, Massachusetts, this week. But he fails to put that in the context of the crowd that showed Bernie Sanders in South Boston three months ago was more than twice as large as the Trump Rally. It’s not that Cilizza didn’t know this; he wrote about Bernie’s visit.
