This is how the New York Times (8/20/20) first reported the news that Steve Bannon has been indicted for fraud—describing him as “President Trump’s former campaign aide”:

Bannon was not just a “campaign aide”—he was the CEO of the Trump campaign. The Times reported his appointment in August 2016 (8/17/16) under the headline, “Donald Trump Appoints Media Firebrand to Run Campaign.”
But perhaps more importantly, Bannon’s role didn’t end after Trump’s election; he was named the White House’s chief strategist, a role he held for the first seven months of the administration.
The effort to legitimize power, in this case by pretending a leading white supremacist was less central to the regime than he was, is relentless at the Times. It’s pretty much the “paper of record’s” North Star.
The Times (8/20/20) updated its story within minutes, with a new description of Bannon…which tells me they knew damned well that calling Bannon merely a former campaign aide (not even a campaign staffer, a mere “aide”) was inexcusable. But even in the corrected blurb, Bannon is just a “former adviser.” Let me repeat, he was the effing chief strategist of the White House.

The corruption, malfeasance, fascist and racist and misogynist intent, and sheer greed of this regime is staggering. If only the New York Times spent less time trying to soothe us into thinking it was normal, we’d have the revolt we need for this moment.

And nothing to the left of Clintonismo will ever be normalized by our Fourth Rate Estate
Ah, Tucker Carlson will be wounded when he learns you called him fourth rate.
Unfortunate, it’s not a fatal wound.
William would like to see Tucker fatally wounded? What kind of cretin are you William? I don’t like many leftists. I don’t want to see any of them dead. Everyone that posts here should condemn William’s comment.
It’s pretty much the “paper of record’s” North Star.
Or maybe its Southern Cross — double cross, that is.
Maybe— the name ” NY Times,” doesn’t clearly state its mission—– perhaps NY CRIMES, ” is more accurate as its concept of journalism is so very changeable—and unbelievable—-and sad—–and not worth bothering with anymore.
Perhaps the strident tone is putting readers off from the intent of Ms Benz to point out just how important Bannon was to the pretend president. Getting people to pay good money to fund a scam is the news and it’s far better that Bannon was caught while his handiwork can still issue pardons. Finding fault with with Ms Benz or her political leanings may entertain, but hardly excuses an inability to tell the truth or recognize real danger when it is found and revealed. Carlo Cipolla wrote an interesting and entertaining essay on how it’s possible to miss or dismiss critical information like this.
they updated it. It says former cheif strategist now. Good worky
Come now, let’s be fair to Mr. Bannon. Even advisor is too modest.
He was not only chief strategist for the President and CEO of the Trump campaign, he was a principal operative in Cambridge Analytical’s sketchy operation that collected data on millions of American voters, the data which The Trump campaign subsequently used in the psyops attack on the electorate in the run up to the 2016 election. Data that facilitated the Russian intelligence service’s parallel psyops attack.
