The so-called peace process (version VI?) was doomed from the beginning, for the same reason all the others have been doomed: Israel has used “peace talks” as a way of forestalling any settlement, while they continue to build Jewish-only settlements on land that might be considered a Palestinian state. Netanyahu is more forthcoming about that than his predecessors. The one remaining solution is to make “Israel” (which has never defined its borders or its citizenship) a state with constitutional rights for all its citizens. A Jewish-only state does not make sense in modern times — except as an outpost of Western influence. We (government & media) deplore an Islamist state, which makes every bit as much sense as a Jewish state.
