This week on FAIR TV: How does Obama’s “non-mandate” compare to Bush’s 2004 “mandate”? Does corporate media factchecking need a reality check? And we look at how superstorm Sandy failed to generate talk about climate change on the Sunday shows.
Please watch it–and share it with your friends.<!–preview-break–>

Succinct and right on the money.
Thank you for bringing up climate change, when so many still think we can stick out heads in the sand. Soon there will be no avoiding it, which will still be long before some people are ready to talk about it, but hopefully long after most of us have begun to find ways to cope with it.
Consider the Connection to: Environmental Communications CTC1 [HURRICANE KATRINA]
I am a Hurricane Katrina evacuee from New Orleans now living in Hattiesburg Mississippi.
I was a week-end volunteer for 20 at the Louisiana Nature & Science Center in New Orleans. The LNSC was destroyed during Katrina.
While volunteering I developed a show & tell presentation titled “Consider the Connection”.
CTC is now an online Stage Presentation with 3 interconnected/interactive ‘PROPS’.

I don’t suppose any of you read the Bible, but it does say that the would be drought and earthquakes and such in divers places. I can’t imagine they knew about “global warming” back then. It’s just part of growing up for the planet. It wasn’t designed to last forever in it’s present state. But now if we can control the lives of billions of people by claiming “we” screwed up the planet then that would be a very handy way to control a large percent of the population. Watch the movie “Agenda, the grinding downof America” it will explain all about this ridiculous environmental movement.
Yes, and the earth is flat plus, News Alert – the sun and planets revolve around the earth.
Now that is out of the way, what is the harm in investing in wind and solar technologies? What is the harm in investing in education and research? What is the harm in reducing carbon emissions? We already know what harm it does to humans? Even if the neaderthals among us want to pretend it does not have an effect.
What the crazies on the right do not want to admit – even if the entire pipeline from Canada to New Orleans is built – not one bit of that oil will remain in the US. It will be immediately shipped elsewhere. Why not spend the money here and become less reliant on the benevolence of Saudi Princes? Why do so many feel the need to make Mobil and Exxon even richer? How many of our tax dollars are we to give them?
We could do a lot to reduce our reliance on foreign oil if it were mandated for all federal vehicles use CNG as an alternative fuel source as in many European countries? That is a much more rational solution than Drill Baby Drill.
Why would it be more rational to have CNG than Drill Baby Drill? How about both! Then if the windmills and solar can do it cheaper fine. The government just needs to get out of the way.
Excellent, Peter.
The government just needs to get out of the way.
WTF??? That is why we had the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, because the Government let the corporations do what they wanted with no over sight and they bought the cheapest, lowest quality fixes. The Government needs to stay the course, and make sure we don’t have more of the same from the corporations; bad environmental acts and the destruction of anything viable living on.
I don’t suppose any of you read the Bible, but it does say that the would be drought and earthquakes and such in divers places.
Read it and figured out that it was written by a bunch of sour faced gits that wanted to be “Gods” themselves. How many times now has it been that the “Bible” predicted the end of the world, at least 4 times in recent history; and so far it’s 4 for 0. Maybe you should try reading more than just “one book”.
Peter made an excellent observation about Cokie Roberts comment that Obama really has to do something to get those who didn’t vote for him on his side…WHY????Fuck them, why should he, he apparently didn’t need them or their vote, why would he need to appeal to them now…after the election? And that clearly shows that the political pandering perpetuating possibly putrid puke from the probably know-nothing pundits in corporate media is sorely lacking in their analysis, I mean these are the people who study and speak for a living about the affairs of US issues and political musings…IT’S ALL THEY DO, SO YOU’D THINK THEY COULD BE MORE ASTUTE THAN THEY ARE. Sadly the Sunday talk show putrid pundits speak mostly to audiences on over the air broadcasts and if that is their only news source, they’re in sad shape and can’t ever be informed from these cranks.
ed soja and Max, you guys, there’s always a couple of boiled p-nuts like you two around. The WhollyBabble, or Buy-bull, is so vague as to be meaningless, even I can make inaccurate predictions as well as is in the sheep shaggers written book.Oh, and Max, do you watch a HD TV? The standard was established by that gov’t that you want out of the way. Gov’t does not for profit as there is no profits to be had in every human endeavor. So many standards we have today was done by gov’t, things like the 70s primitive ‘internet’ that connected universities at 300 BAUD or less, or the ‘electrification’ of rural America done by…yep…gov’t, why? cuz corporations saw no money in connecting so few people per square mile, just look up what ‘gov’t’ is responsible for to make our lives better.Electronics miniaturization due to NASA…yep…gov’t again.
Padremellyrn, thank you, spot on both points. Bible bangers to free market fantasies.
