And finally, “Your Voice This Week.” Today’s question comes from Cheryl Robinson, who writes, “What happened in Benghazi was terribly tragic, and now we’re hearing of another Middle Eastern war on the brick. Let us and you, the media, not forget about the war that our own kids are fighting for us in Afghanistan. Why is there so little coverage?”
Well, because, unfortunately, very few people feel the way you do, Cheryl. There is a war-weariness with the public, and outside of campaign season, the war is not often mentioned. The administration talks about it largely to say we are leaving, but we should all remember that nearly 70,000 Americans are still in Afghanistan, facing death and injury, and we should remember we have promised our combat troops will remain there for another two years.
“The war is not often mentioned”–says a reporter for a network whose nightly news show is watched by 7 million to 8 million people a week. So the people told ABC they didn’t want to know about Afghanistan–they insisted on learning instead what John McCain had to say about Benghazi?
It was “often mentioned” INSIDE “of campaign season”?
How this makes sense in any way is beyond me. Does Raddatz coordinate coverage now at ABC, call the shots? Am I missing something? She was responding honestly to the question; she’s not the network spokesperson. She’s a reporter.
Sometimes reading this blog feels like sitting in a living room listening to Peter and Jim yell at the television — not thoughtful or revealing in any way, just whatever comes to the top of their heads.
The situation in Libya is being politicized and the victims and there families being instrumented as a ruse to create doubt of Obama’s leadership. Public access to real facts is being whitewashed by this rhetoric while conservative hands paint the Blackface on our President. The focus should be on the banks and bankers that have bought the
souls of our representatives and the country and everything in it.Along
with the wars that go on endlessly and omitted from our news services
which have been bought also.
The republican party has learned nothing from the 2012 election. They will continue on their fantasy path. The bubble that they surround themselves in, will remain intact.
I wonder why Cheryl Robinson is under the missaprehension that ‘her kids’ are fighting for her and her countrymen in Afghanistan.
Basically, she should learn why Afghanistan was attacked, on spurios, unproven Government and Media allegations.
I suggest she start by checking out that Osama Bin Laden was not on the FBI’s ‘Most Wanted List’ for 9/11; when asked why, the FBI spokesman replied that ‘We don’t have any hard evidence linking OBL to 9/11’.
Banksters make bundles from wars; that is why your kids (but not the kids of the Chicken Hawk ‘Skull & Bones’ Politicians) are fighting and dying (and killing) in Afghanistan, a country which has never attacked another country throughout history.

Why the hell don’t the Democrats respond to this inane focus on how four U.S. diplomats died and who “lied” about it by demanding an investigation on who lied to the American public about the Iraq invasion, thus costing hundreds of thousands of deaths and injuries to both Americans and Iraqis.
“Very few” feel as Cheryl does? How would she know this? I’d think a whole lot of America wants to know what’s going on in Afghanistan, “war weary” or not. We are at the mercy of the media. Is Sarah Palin in the news because she’s notable, or is she notable because she’s in the news? All the damn time. The news media chooses what’s covered, not Americans. They choose to not cover Afghanistan. Instead we have to listen to drivel about made-up conspiracies or who’s running in 2016.

It is a travesty that the war in Afghanistan is under reported to the point of no reporting.I can’t explain it but I feel a lot of it is this press has an agenda.Bad news on Obamas watch, that could be laid at his doorstep, is not appreciated.If it were Bush……..that woman would still be camped outside his house with CNN there 24/7.If it is just war weariness -the press should really be ashamed.Fucking Kim Kardashian gets more air time that our fighting troops.
As far as Bengazi.Obama is the best at becoming jello.Tough to nail to a wall(fast and furious is a good example)but on this one somebody is gonna talk.if we need to remind Obama that he is our employee.And If we have to grab him by the scruff of his skinny neck ,and sit his skinny ass down in front of a congressional hearing board under oath than all Americans should be doing that.He is NOT giving answers.This one is not going away.Sooner or later I think he is gonna be brought to heal on this one.No matter how he twists and turns.Mr president….who decided not to send a rescue mission?Who pulled the ambassadors security as he begged for more.What was going on there?Mr president must we remind you you are under oath?That will be America moving forward
Frank, what’s a “Fing” job? Is that like a wing, or maybe a fling?
