Excellent editing, closer to truth.
You nailed it Benz!
Fantastic idea, right pn!
Way to go Dorothee! Love this!
WOW! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more effective critique of the corporate mainstream media. Reposted to Facebook.
Bravo.
Thank you FAIR: Trump has failed, major media has failed, the police have failed——but FAIR, truly is fair, and gets it right!
A lesson in impactful writing. As a writer and editor, I approve.
I corrected Dorothee’s comment of not correcting ‘NYPD cop pulls mask off man, pepper sprays him in the face’…she says:
“New York Post (5/31/20). Don’t see anything wrong with this one, actually”
Should read:
“New York Post (5/31/20). Don’t see any bias with this one, actually”
Bravo!
Excellent! I would like to see this done on a regular basis.
Mainstream/corporate media: the ORIGINAL “very fine people on both sides” truthers… Dotard is merely a copycat
Ironic that the NYPost has the one unblemished hedline.
Headline rule no. 1: Eschew the passive voice.
It might be helpful to include a sentence at the beginning clarifying that this is how the headlines hypothetically would be revised if the outlets were practicing journalism. I make this suggestion because outlets sometimes have in fact revised their own articles when they were caught either misrepresenting something or when they realize they’ve revealed too much truth; so initially, I was confused as to whether the revisions you propose were actually made.
Excellent. I also recommend the breathtaking work of artist Alexandra Bell, who has remade New York Times pages in this way for years as public works: http://www.alexandrabell.com/public-work.
This is fantastic. Thank you for doing this. Taking a fix one step further: …police arrest of a CNN journalist on live television shocks nation. Draws condemnation…to Condemned by law enforcement officials.
