What’s wrong is that there was no “Venezuelan nuclear bomb plot,” and the scientist in question, Pedro Leonardo Mascheroni, didn’t offer Venezuela anything. What Mascheroni was convicted of was telling undercover FBI agents, who were pretending to work for Venezuela, that he could give them nuclear weapons secrets. In real life, Venezuela had nothing to do with it.
The distinction is critical because accurate headlines would not leave casual readers with the impression that Venezuela was interested in getting a nuclear bomb, or in trying to nuke New York. From the point of view of the US government, no doubt, that misimpression is a feature and not a bug.
First Russia, now Venezuela. The government and media seem hellbent on finding newer and newer “enemies” to justify the national security state’s continued expansion.
Oh, any piece of shit that stenographers for Washington can throw at Venezuela is credible and worth while. Until a pro-U.S. government is installed, of course.
Blowin’ the truth up real good
So lets see, the man tries to make a deal with a country, that didn’t know he was making a deal with them because the country wasn’t making any deals, it was our Government pretending to be that other country making a deal to stop the person from making a deal with a country that didn’t know it was making a deal with someone they didn’t know in the first place.

This is just one example of what MANUFACTURING CONSENT is all about. For any rational person to believe the above diatribe, one would have to, by necessity, forget the USA history treatment of those considered “official enemies” such as Russia.
