I checked out a post from the Web-based publication Capital (9/28/11) about media coverage of the Occupy Wall Street protest because CJR (9/29/11) told me it was a “smart post” that “crunched the numbers” and showed “how there really is no media blackout.” I have to say I would have thought CJR would have higher standards when it came to crunching media numbers.
Capital‘s Joe Pompeo states his thesis early on:
The idea that there is a media blackout has gained appeal on the left with support from Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann, who said on the September 21 edition of his primetime show on Current TV: “The majority of the media is ignoring the public uprising.”
In fact, an (admittedly unscientific) survey of news organizations suggests the protest, despite lacking any clear goal or purpose (that’s by design), has been making headlines since it began on September 17.
OK, so Pompeo is trying to show that Olbermann was wrong when he said on September 21 that “the majority of the media” was ignoring the protest. (Michael Moore made a similar statement on the Rachel Maddow Show on September 19.) He does this by doing Nexis and Google searches that include a full week of additional coverage:
A Nexis query for “Occupy Wall Street” yielded 428 results as of press time [i.e, September 28], including 248 items that appeared on blogs, 71 in newspapers, 63 on the wires, 31 in “Web-based publications,” 18 as news transcripts, nine as “aggregate news sources,” one in the industry trade press and one in a legal news publication. Google News has indexed more than 2,000 articles between September 17 and today.
That is “admittedly unscientific”–not to mention patently unfair.
How much coverage had Occupy Wall Street actually gotten when Olbermann made his claim? Well, Nexis gives me 17 articles from September 16 through September 21 in the “Newspaper Stories, Combined Articles” database with the words “Occupy Wall Street” in them. Of these, 10 are from overseas papers–from Britain, Australia, Canada, China and Pakistan. Another four are from the St. Joseph News Press, a Missouri paper that reprints tiny items from CNN‘s wire service. So when Olbermann made his comment, there had been three actual U.S. newspaper stories during five days of demonstrations in the heart of the nation’s media capital–the New York Daily News (9/17/11), Newark Star Ledger (9/18/11) and New York Newsday (9/19/11)–that are at least in-depth enough to mention the name of the event. That’s a grand total of 1,047 words.
That Newsday piece, by the way, was headlined “Protests Close Wall Street Second Day.” Nothing to see here–move along!

First, they ignore you.
Check.
Then, they laugh at you.
Check.
Then, they fight you.
Check.
Then, you win.
Check back.
Or, if you aspire to be a mensch …
Check in.
Two feelings: One is it’s slightly ludicrous to say on TV that the media are ignoring us. Two is where’s the coverage of the rest of the country? According to a site I visited yesterday there were 143 across the country. All i’ve seen on TV are New York and DC. most mentioned are the bicoastals of LA and NYC. The rest is flyover country or the benighted South. I know even media giants are hurting for money. But doesn’t someone want to go to say, Charlotte, home of B of A, or Jackson Mississippi, or Raleigh, where I was born, but not raised. Raised in Chapel Hill, where I, along with other white Southerners from all over the South, was in the Civil Rights Movement. Last I heard no demos in Chapel Hill. Why not? Might be those golf playing Republican Yankee retirees. First noticed their uptight red suits at thrift shops in CH ten years ago. Of course, the Northern media would assume their votes were racist white Southerners, and, as often, the media would be wrong. Another thing for Fair to look into. No one has the least interest in interviewing us, though we’re dying off, along with, but below the truly great heros of the movement. The NYTimes called an identical law “Jim Crow” and “racist” in a Southern state, but not in Wisconsin. When it hit New York state, I asked if they considered it Jim Crow or racist. And today when I called got a recording saying they don’t take “trivial comments”. I was deadly serious. And said They “do not do they do research for the public.” Funny, I’d thought that’s what journalism is. I’d asked a guy at the metro desk to find out whether cops targeted blacks and hispanics for “furtive movements” more in white neighborhoods. He hung up on me. I wanted to tell him about a conversation I’d had with two cops on Central Park West and 81st after I asked them what a furtive movement looks like. One cop started telling me I liked cops getting killed. I told him I didn’t. And Didn’t mention I don’t like it when it’s an off duty black or hispanic officer getting killed for pulling his gun during a crisis. I said I didn’t like Giuliani’s well named “street crimes unit” killing an unarmed black man every two weeks. The same officer said “Every two weeks! Yeah?” I said often enough. Asked what a furtive movement looked like. “Say you see someone standing in that door. This is a nice neighborhood. Looking side to side.” I didn’t need to ask whether a nice neighborhood was a white neighborhood. Had seen the NYC census, and had to point out to the Public Editor that Manhattan is lily white except for Harlem. He acknowledged not noticing that. Back when he answered my emails. Harlem is getting gentrified, and some African Americans being forced to the suburbs, where they’ll have to drive to work, if they can find a job. The Time sdid cover that. Asked them to more coverage on the reverse migration to the South. Caused in large part by the cops in NYC. One of the few blacks left who went back to Va. I met on her stoop first worrying about sons under Giuliani, then the Furtive Movement cops. But all of that is trivial and they’re certainly not going to do the research to find out whether there are more people arrested for furtive movements uptown than in “nice neighborhoods”. Told an African American guy this and added I’m a trouble maker. He said “Good for you! Keep it up.” I also call out leftist sites for hate speech about evangelicals, the ones it’s ok to dis at the moment. By asking them “Do we hate only white evangelicals or black and hispanics too?” Got a laugh from hispanic friends on that yesterday.
Well, I think that planet earth is actually more than 6,000 years old.
Well done FAIR. If the media can talk about the Arab Spring, they can talk about the Wall Street Fall.
The paradigm is shifting from conservative versus liberal to corporations versus democracy.
There is a world of difference between my marching down Broadway, or up 5th Avenue, or in DC and, separately, my thinking that my cause will win out. I place more weight on into whose face
we do not go, rather than our going. So, for example, take the big labor march last September in DC: we heard Dr. King-like speeches, we heard attempts to sound like Walter Reuther, we heard lots of smoke, and then we . . . well . . . we simply evaporated. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! No march . . . no going in the face of our opposition, no mass arrests . . . just milling around and
heading home.
On Wednesday, we accpted being sqeezed in by police; we accpted piling up at the end of the march into an area that could not possibly accomodate us. So Bloomberg and his blue coats
had their way with us. That get nothing done against the sort of entrenched opposition we face.
Don’t take any of the above to mean that I am brave. But one must swallow ones fear . . . hopefully. . . if one is up to it. . . . maybe!

It’s good to see this analysis that confirms my impression of the initial lack of coverage followed by the later, most encouraging, growing coverage.
My impression is also that the 350.org Washington protest was undercovered and that it unfortunately never was covered as much as it should have been. Has anyone done an analysis?
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they smear your movement, then they try to discredit your facts, and if all this fails they call out the military and hope that they will fire on you.
As they said on the Daily Show, the media has turned it’s dial from “blackout” to “circus.”
Now the story is why they treat it like a bunch of no nothings without a coherent message about what to do (compared to the tea party? to congress?) and over-emphasize arrests, under-emphasis the large peaceful protests, and the clearly articulated complaints about what is wrong.
From what I have seen(and i watch all the networks for balance),,,,the more they show these demonstrations, and interview the people there…the worse it looks for their cause.I will be nice here, and just say this is not main street America.I went to the one in New York and Philly. In any demonstration there are a certain amount of societies miscreants. This was seemingly in the majority. To many avowed Communists and socialists screaming their wants.Anarchist types that want everything pulled down. At its core the movement at this point looks to me like an all white privledged collage student uprising, with its usual party atmosphere. The only blacks i saw were not representative either. And the message is not being articulated well at all.Hey it could change overnight. But for now it was a mess.Maybe the press is behind this .Just embarrassed to print it at this time.Oh and was it any surprise the New Yorker found out that George Soros money is behind this?My only worry is Obama seeing his poll numbers, is trying to pull everything down around him .This class warfare could turn nasty if the president gooses it along ,to create a riot in the street mentality that only he the professional agitator- and community activist can benefit from.

NUMEROUS INJUSTICES
When I get to Occupy ___ (fill in the blank), my sign will say “Sign too small to say it all!” or maybe just “NUMEROUS INJUSTICES!”
Why the 99ers? Who are they? What do they want? Allow me to clue you in:
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about the Robber-barons-gone-wild club on Wall St. who have caused so much homelessness and suffering. “If it’s too big to fail, it’s too big to exist.”
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are obviously pissed about lack of jobs. Leave it to the greedy 1% to come up with the corrupt plan of outsourcing everything.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about the Environmental-criminals-gone-wild club. One example is XL Keystone gas line they are forcing on us. Anyone seen Gasland? Who is all for your tap water catching on fire? Who is all for cancer causing toxins being in your soil, water and air? Great fun, huh? Who ever went to jail for the oil rig workers in the gulf dying? Did poor little rich boy Tony Hayward ever get his life back? What does the ocean floor look like now? Not healthy, I am guessing. Was anyone ever prosecuted for the sea turtles being burnt alive? What about all the other wildlife that was murdered. What happened to the jobs there? Does anyone love that they are blowing away as many mountaintops as they can? Ask the folks in the Appalachian Mountains. End Mountaintop Removal. There is no such thing as “clean coal”, that is blatant propaganda. What about the all mining “accidents”, how many regulations did the mine owner violate? Does anyone ever go to jail when miners are killed in unsafe conditions? No. And then there are the ones trying to deceive us into creating more nuke plants with their radioactive turds. Where to put the glowing dodo? Never really thought that far ahead, did they? And does anyone from the polluted mainstream media EVER report on the recent horror of Fukushima and how the radiation danger continues? How many people there are doomed to die? Does anyone care? Did the FibbersOgres/Xenophobes of FOX so-called news REALLY convince everyone that climate change is just our imaginations? Well they paid fake companies to make up false reports, isn’t that illegal? No one went to jail over that.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about our food supply being corrupted by factory farming. If you keep eating that garbage that is full of growth hormones, and can’t figure out why your butt is expanding, just think, if the hormones they add to the meat makes the animals grow, then when you eat it, your butt grows too. Just watch Food, Inc. It really pisses me off that mean ReTHUGlicans and Teabaggers criticized our First Lady for wanting to plant a garden.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed they plan to keep the wars going perpetually, or so it seems. The headlines should have read: Osama bin Laden is dead, WAR IS OVER. The war profiteers did not let that happen.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about war criminals going free. The most evil people who ever lived are going around, writing books about how they torture and would do it again. (The way the media promoted that book they should have called it “In my face!”) They really got off on torturing, like it was fun. They never have the slightest remorse for the torture and crimes against humanity they have committed. The “lets move forward” won’t work, till we go back a few years and convict those who manufactured the illegal war. They, and all their partners in crime should be tried and convicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Those war criminals still out there. Indict Bush, Cheney and their cohorts! What noble cause, Mr. Bush? (When the voters voted them away from Washington DC, their minions came to the states and infiltrated local politics. They are out there gerrymandering, disenfranchising, and conniving how to steal votes again. The only way they can even have a chance to ever win again is to cheat. They are useless to create jobs, but they are excellent at cheating and lying. I wonder what florescent orange lipstick Katherine Harris is doing these days? Living well I assume. Isn’t she the skank from Florida who helped Bush steal his election? That woman had her 15 minutes of fame. Then came the wars. Then came you name it.) And what about that Eric Prince (of Darkness) he has openly declared racist wars on anyone with brown skin. Yet he still runs free to do his murdering. The next time there is an atrocity committed, and one side is blaming the other side, they should first ask, “Is this really the work of Eric Prince of Darkness?” (Research Blackwater, Xe if you are clueless about this) He is useful to the War-mongers-gone wild club, they need agitation to keep war-profiteering.
Want advice on how to balance the national budget? It’s really quite simple, make the war profiteers pay for the wars they illegally manufactured.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about how the health care issue was hijacked by the imbecile Teabaggers with the help of some Blue w. dog/Dixiecrats. Of course, the Blood-red party of No was not going to even consider the plight of how it is to live without health care. When the they came up with that single payer system is off the table crap, hope faded. Well, now the insurance CEO’s can’t murder people anymore by saying one has a “pre-existing condition”, but the Department of Justice could have made that happen. When the gun-toting Teabaggers showed up at the town hall meetings to out-scream anyone who was not them, I knew I would never attend those circuses, but I did have a lot to say about it in favor of a fair and Single-payer health care system. I did participate in a lame phone town hall meeting, but the Senator never called on me to talk. Insurance companies are still trying to cheat people, and are still creeps. BigPharma is still just a corrupt as it ever was. What should people think when they see advertisement for Bigpharma’s antidepressants, of which the side effects are suicide? Seems somewhat Orwellian/Bizarro World to me. The health care system is evidence of how capitalism became CRAPitalism. I don’t think that crapitalizing from human misery is working very well. Who would Jesus let die from lack of health care? Jesus healed people for free. Human misery is reduced to just a profitable business now. Sick people are customers and the Drs. are like cold ruthless CEO’s, who only care if they are getting money. That’s been my experience.
Maybe, just maybe, some of the 99% are pissed about the murder of Troy Davis by the State of Georgia. There is SUBSTANTIAL & REASONABLE DOUBT that he did not do this crime. If there is SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT then execution is WRONG. If seven of nine witnesses recanted, then it is OBVIOUS that the original trial was a mockery of justice. NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE TIES HIM TO THE CRIME SCENE. 7 OF 9 SAID THEY WERE PRESSURED INTO LYING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. Common sense says that if the State of Georgia REALLY wanted to find the murderer, they would question those who put the pressure on those who lied about what happened. One such example would be Sylvester “Redd” Coles. They should have freed Troy Davis. The State of Georgia made a mockery out of our court system. They killed an innocent man. “Keep digging.” Abolish capital punishment, it is being used as a tool of the racists to kill innocent people. Even the Supreme Court of the U.S. went along with the lies. (But then again, what can you expect from corrupt judges who claim that “Corporations are people”?) This just proves how the Republican dominated states are toxic places to live. Boycott Georgia. The ones who cheated their ways to power want to re-implement feudalism. They think slavery is just fine. They still say the N word. And they rule by keeping everyone ignorant and dumbed-down by FOX propaganda. The polluted lamestream media never even mentioned the “Jena 6” 1/4/06 where the racists in Jena, LA put nooses in the tree at the school to imply lynchings done by KKK. The mean teacher went into the classroom and told them something like “With my stroke-of-the-pen power, I can make your life miserable” (not sure of the exact quote). So maybe the 99ers are pissed about the blatant racism of the Republican/Teabagger/Dixiecrats, and the hurt and misery they continue to inflict.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed because the Blood-red Republicans/Teabaggers/Blue w. dogs/Dixiecrats won’t just come out and admit that the reason they want President Obama to fail is because he is African-American? That is the biggest reason. I have heard them say it. Their constant obstruction to anything that President Obama wants to do that actually helps American people is unacceptable. Their constant assault on the American people is unjust (trying to abolish Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Family Planning, WIC, and other truly helpful programs). They sicken me.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed because 5 of the U.S. Supreme Court judges are obviously corrupt.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed that the Blood-red Republicans/Teabaggers disrespect the Separation of church and state in the Constitution. The USA was founded to ESCAPE religious insanity. Religion does NOT belong in politics or the government. There are many so-called churches that need to have their tax-exempt status revoked because all they talk about is politics, and tell their sheeple people who to vote for.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are sick and tired of obscenely rich, mean, old, white men being obsessed with women’s uteruses. Now they think they are going to ban the pill. They think that if a pregnancy results from a sick incestuous father/daughter relationship, that the girl should have that probably mentally deficient baby. They think if a woman gets raped, that she should be forced to have the bastard child. Yeah, the world needs more angry unwanted children (sarcasm). The corrupt ones hope that poor children will grow up to be angry enough to commit crimes and be more prison fodder. That makes prison profiteers very happy. My stupid representative in Arkansas actually thought he could sell me on the “abstinence only” garbage. Then he goes along with banning Planned Parenthood. Is it that they think, “keep ‘um barefoot and pregnant” so you can CONTROL them? I guess they think they will have more white babies for their KKK club and their NeoNazi club? I guess they think that everyone not born white and male can just be prison fodder for their perpetual prison-industrial complex.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about Israel and the apartheid system they implement on Palestine. Palestine should be a free and recognized state. I don’t care much for the leaders of EITHER side, but what I care about is the innocent civilians of both countries. The leaders are infected with violence. The good people, innocent women, men, children suffer, because of that infection. This Israeli-Palestine conflict is senseless. The I-love-war-club (with members in the USA) has kept the hurt going on for much too long. Make them stop. The leaders need to sign up for ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES. Does anyone remember the show the Grudge match? Maybe the leaders should be put in a boxing ring with those great big styrofoam boxing gloves and just get their grudges out. We as a human race should be E-volving, not DE-volving. The apartheid system in Palestine shows that we, as a human race, are DE-volving. It is way past time to change that. Make the bullying stop. Make the pain and suffering stop. Do research about white phosphorus. Does it tell you about how it works? If it falls on your arm, it catches on fire. Imagine your arm is on fire and you douse it with water, and the flame continues. THAT is what the Israelis have done to the Palestinians. I am not making that up. Sometimes both sides seem like they are going to work for peace, and then that yahoo, Mr. Netanyahu keeps up with his Developers-gone-wild mentality, and bulldozes more families. Why should you and I care, well, because that is what they do with OUR tax money. I am responsible for the suffering and misery because MY taxes are going to pay for the injustice. That really pisses me off. And our elected officials let the misery continue. I am all for the Jewish people to have a place to live after the Nazis committed their atrocities on them. They were oppressed people then. But now, in 2011, one must ask, is Israel a case of the oppressed becoming the oppressors?
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about the Military-Industrial Complex in charge of everything, at the expense of 99% of the American population. And then there is always the Prison-Industrial Complex and all its corruption. So if you are a male born in this violent based society it looks when you grow up you can go be a professional killer in a war, or you can be prison fodder. But you might be in the 1% and are just amused by the suffering. If you are in the 1% you will probably get to be a gun or bomb manufacturer and think that’s great fun.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% want to end this police state we now live in. End wars and end the Patriot Act. Call the Patriot Act what it really is: The Perpetual Big Brother Act.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about the privatization of practically everything. President Obama is trying to create jobs and that crazy Scott Walker in Wisconsin wants to destroy them, by firing teachers, fireman, nurses, and basically anyone who is actually helping our sick society. And now they want to close the Post Office. An institution that has worked well for over 200 years. Are they trying to disenfranchise voters in Oregon and Washington? Would they go to such lengths to disenfranchise voters? The answer is yes. I, for one, still use snail mail. It still works great. There are many other examples of this Republican/Teabagger/Blue w. Dog/Dixiecrat behavior. This is Bizarro World.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are students, and if you are a college student, you may be finding out how really screwed you are. College students graduate owing more money than they may EVER make, especially now that there are no jobs. And if you are a student you should know that you are the prime target for voter disenfranchisement at the hands of the Blood-red/Teabagger/Dixiecrats in 2012. Find out the rules the cheaters have conjured up, and get your photo id or whatever they are demanding. Do it now, don’t wait till the last minute. Report voter discrimination wherever you see it.
Maybe, just maybe some of the 99% are pissed about police brutality, especially the brutal treatment of the press. They are violating the Freedom of the Press amendment in the constitution. How come police brutality is not done to the Republicans/Teabaggers?
Maybe, just maybe, some of the 99% are pissed about the constant Orwellian double-speak propagated by the FibbersOgresXenophobes of so-called FOX news. Their favorite military phrases “collateral damage” and “theater” are some of the most offensive of them all:
Dictionary definitions:
collateral:
adjective
1. descended from the same stock but by a different line …
2. additional but subordinate; secondary â┚¬Ã‚¦
damage:
noun
1.physical harm caused to something in such a way as to impair its value, usefulness, or normal function â┚¬Ã‚¦
2. (damages) a sum of money claimed or awarded in compensation for a loss or an injury â┚¬Ã‚¦
phrases:
What’s the damage? informal humorous used to ask the cost of something
theater:
noun
a building or outdoor area in which plays and other dramatic performances are given …
In this Bizarro World of Orwellian double speak, they now refer to a precious human life as “collateral damage”. They now consider precious human life as subordinate and secondary. I used to think that “collateral” was something you talked to banksters about, something you offered to give up to them if you can’t pay them back. And if you did pay them back, you got your collateral back. So if you viciously kill innocent people, how are they EVER getting life back? What conscienceless person started calling precious human life “collateral”? And damage, that implies that something is just impaired and can be fixed. Wrong. When you viciously kill innocent human beings, it is not damage, it is permanent murder, senseless destruction and misery. I wonder, do the I-love-war people go around laughing and asking “What’s the damage?” So the I-love-war club comes along and uses Orwellian double-speak to say that precious human life can just be dismissed as “collateral damage”. The FibbersOgresXenophobes of FOX so-called news repeat that trash talk over and over.
Isn’t human life supposed to be a miracle, created by “God”? In 2001, even the church people were saying, it is o.k. to indiscriminately bomb and kill innocent brown people, they are just “collateral damage”. They must have thought innocent brown people’s precious babies, children, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends were “subordinate” and “secondary” human beings, that THEIR lives had no meaning. [Does anyone see the HYPOCRISY of the Abortion-is-murder club who are the majority of the I-love-war club?] The I-love-war club even bragged about not counting the innocents that they killed and/or maimed forever. A lot of people know that in Viet Nam 58,000+ Americans were killed. Do they even know that over 2 MILLION civilians were killed there. It took till 1995 before they even got that estimate.
And the I-love-war club never tires of that word “theater”. It is like they look forward to being ENTERTAINED by death, dismemberment, misery, and destruction. For the I-love-war/I-love-violence/I-love-guns club, these wars have been the best entertainment they could ever dream of- death, constant misery and destruction everywhere. To them, their wars are better than the most violent video game of them all. It is like being in heaven to them, especially when they think of all the money they’re making. In Bizarro world, hell is heaven.
No, the deaths of millions of innocents are not “collateral damage”. Their deaths are senseless murder. Call them what they really are. War is not a really fun video game nor like an swashbuckling action-packed movie. It is not something you go to a theater for a few hours, and when you go home and go to sleep it is over. War is senseless murder of millions of innocents. Anyone who finds war entertaining is psycho. War is HELL, not heaven.
The blood-red Republicans, Teabaggers, Blue w. dogs and Dixiecrats were just foaming at the mouth to go to war. They did not give a thought about who was paying as they said “Deficits don’t matter!” How come all of a sudden the deficit matters so much that they want to make everyone homeless, jobless, sick, hungry, and living in poverty to pay for their manufactured wars? How come all of a sudden deficits DO matter?? How come?
Many people feel the propagandists should be held accountable for their LIES. If an advertiser tells LIES about their product, they are held accountable and sent to jail. So why do the obscenely rich owners of the media never go to jail when they lie? They lie and get people killed [repeating WMDs in Iraq, one of many examples], still they continue their crimes. What punishment should Joseph Goebbels have gotten for his lie crimes? All the people on FOX so-called news, and the people who fund that trash talk, should get the same punishment as war criminal Goebbels.
And now they think they can say that so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques” are not really TORTURE? The I-love-war club can try to call it any name they want, but torture is torture, nothing else. Wasn’t there something about “a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Well I say, torture by any other name still stinks to high heaven!! Those committing torture should be imprisoned forever, or whatever the maximum punishment is allowed by the law.
I would guess that 99% of Americans are sickened by what the conscienceless propagandists are doing. If they are awake they notice it. Maybe, just maybe 99% of Americans are sick and tired of living in Orwellian Bizarro World.
Well, they arrested 700+ on the bridge in New York City. There are probably 600+ other reasons to list, that I have not mentioned.
And to the FibbersOgresXenophobes from the so-called news network, you can quit trying to say that 99% are violent. You don’t have to worry about the 99% acting like YOU. You can quit scapegoating. 99% practice nonviolence, unlike you corrupt people.
Like I said, my sign would say “Sign too small to say it all!” The injustices inflicted by the 1% are NUMEROUS. There are many more injustices going on than what I listed.
Go 99ers!
Through nonviolent conflict resolution, May Peace prevail on Earth

This need not be posted. I’m a 99er. I believe EVERY MEMBER OF BOTH HOUSES should get a 10% decrease of salary for every percentage point of unemployment rate. It’s their job to appropriate money bills so it’s got to be their pay for performance.
If they can decrease unemployment down to 8% they can get back 10% of their salary.
They want to keep their jobs with pay and benefits while millions are homeless and they don’t care. They’ll beg the business and wall street and each other to do what’s right if it affected their standard of living like it is the 99. The will figure out how to get this country moving regardless of who the President is. We can demand this & we should!
Julie take a deep breath.Stop writing for two seconds.Say to yourself “I live in a beautiful world. In a magnificent country.Life is good.People are good.My blessings are many.Put your feet up and enjoy the cool Autumn air. And next time you put pen to paper do me a favor.Just list the liberal fables ,and canards that you DON”T believe in.That will save us all a lot of time.Im sure there are only one or two.As far as the rest of this claptrap…haven’t we heard it all before?Haven’t we transcended this hyperbole?Im glad you are not one of those liberals who just seem to be mad at the world. The type that ruin the cookout ,because the chickens are not free range -and we are all chicken murderers after all.Bet you you are a vegan.Or one of those people who eats only fruit that naturally dies ,and falls from the tree?Ok Im having too much fun here.So from your tea party friend….Have a great evening.Be healthy, wealthy wise.Well healthy and wealthy anyway.
Well said Julie. The only question now is: When do we get to vote for an OWS candidate for congress?
Rob…Really the OWS?The militant action arm of the young labor unions?Who is your candidate ..Rocco the Sesame St union thug puppet?Remember the occupation of Chicago’s goose island?Yea just what we need in our legislative bodies Rob.I knew if this leftist class warfare continued that sooner or later you guys would show up.For Christ sake can somebody call security…………
This is America and all have a right to be represented in government. So many people are out there for reasons that are genuine. Why is this different than the “Tea Party?” Because the “Tea Party” was actually a scam by the oligarchy and OWS is uncontroled by them? Well hey!
Rob we all do absolutely have the right to be represented by a wide variety of people and ideas.Only one caveat.Violence used for change -must be crushed. All ideas are allowed on the table.Constitutionalists like the tea party.Republicans and Dems. Even Communists and socialists.BUT……any seditionist violence must be met in the strongest manner.Intimidation must not be allowed.I think the OWS plays to the worst side in the union mentality. They walk a dangerous line.
As far as the tea party being a product of the oligarchy -that is just nonsense. It is a simple constitutionalist movement that believes the government has gone too far.Has overstepped it’s boundaries.Normal people who can read the tea leaves and want the Obama march to socialism and a nanny state stopped. We will do it peaceably.AT THE VOTING BOOTH!
Well Mike, I think that the crowd has a few unemployed young graduates who majored in poli-sci and that they would make better congressmen than some of the ones we have in office right now. That makes more sense than anything and no garbadge cans get knocked over. But, a lack of economic choices, for people in their stage of life, is at the root of this movement. Our system is designed to open the doors to basic political expression. This is the direction that we should go in.
I’m developing a site site and I was thinking of altering the template.Yours looks pretty decent! You could visit my website and tell me your viewpoint!
