FAIR is the national progressive media watchdog group, challenging corporate media bias, spin and misinformation. We work to invigorate the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the press and by scrutinizing media practices that marginalize public interest, minority and dissenting viewpoints. We expose neglected news stories and defend working journalists when they are muzzled. As a progressive group, we believe that structural reform is ultimately needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting and promote strong non-profit sources of information.

Invariably, in my quest for a neutral news site, I encounter liberal (or extreme right) sites that parade and tout themselves as neutral news sites. Unfortunately, this site is no different. Being different doesn’t mean that you have to discredit what prior generations have passed down as false or subjugating. Try doing an actual research, and source reference for your articles. If you still feel that editorial opinion is actually “news”, instead of reporting truly raw news, and that left bias is necessary to push onto the public, then, at least, throw some right bias as well, and give the reader a choice to filter out the crap and lies that are presented. But then, you wouldn’t be any better than all the other mainstream media that you rightly target as purveyors of lies. And, of course, your credibility would still be suspect, as it is now.
Maybe, instead of slants and biases, try true and balanced reporting, without the liberal slant. No, don’t become a right wing demagogue like FOX, NEWSMAX, or BLAZE, for instance, with their biased spin; just report the news, and qualify editorials and opinions as just that….not the news, because it isn’t. You’ll feel proud when you know the public can trust you. Take note of the elections; the media is now a joke, because of their lies and liberal or right bias, and the public is tired of being lied to…and you are in that box, too.
They (press) will never do the right thing. They either have an agenda, or a corporate owner that won’t allow fairness, truth, or unbiased reporting, or both. Take heart though, they (press) will answer in our world for their BS, and indeed in the next.
“Wayne Hall’ is another excellent example of the type of confused citizen that the MSM wants to create, and obviously is an internet troll whose job it was to leave a comment that would confuse and/or create doubt. The comment needs to be addressed, so I decided to address it.
There are five VERY important questions a legitimate journalist asks:
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, HOW!
Fair does this, along with a few others such as Project Censored, The Intercept, and Democracy Now. In doing my own research about ten years ago, I discovered that only two people in all of MSM even had a journalism degree from an accredited university at the time: Geraldo Rivera (Fox) and Maria Shriver (NBC). Everyone else either had no degree at all, no degree related to journalism, or a degree issued by an unaccredited school (most of these were nationally unaccredited Christian universities, and most were two-year degrees).
There is a HUGE difference between a Reporter and Journalist. A reporter is someone who’s job it is to report on (and generate your interest in) what is available for consumption through that media outlet. (Extra! Extra! Read all about it….in MY newspaper that is better than theirs!) The reporter is the town crier, someone who tells everyone what is going on, but not someone who is expected (necessarily) to actually have discovered or written the story.
But a Journalist is someone who uses a certain set of questions in order to discover a story, in order to get a clear picture; and then they JOURNAL the story. Being trained in this craft – of being responsible for journaling current affairs for historical purposes – is like any other; it has rules and guidelines for it’s industry because it is important to have consistency and accuracy. Those who follow these guidelines can be counted upon, and those who do not must be consumed with caution. It’s easy to understand, if you imagine the industry like any other. Take driving a semi…. understanding the Hours-of-Service rules and having a CDL are requirements because we know that people who do not do these things cannot generally be fully trusted to haul 20K pounds around the country without causing damage. Same here. The talking heads on MSM who are only gossipers and speculators do not constitute any form of journalism.
Unfortunately, in the world of Journalism, we seem to have an extreme amount of ‘unlicensed drivers’ in the drivers’ seats of these incredibly important stories. And because of it, we have people like the poor guy ‘Wayne Hall’ who has no idea where, or how, to get his news and is even incapable of ascertaining the difference between truth and fiction. This is not his fault. It is by design.
If you are reading or watching the news and it doesn’t cover the questions of WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE WHY HOW then you simply are not getting the news.
Choose your news!
Thanks for that critique of the critic who was trying to cast doubt about the article and Fair.org. Excellent read!
