Here’s one of the “questions” asked in the poll,tailor-made for Fox News Channel:
Federal Communications Commission Chief Diversity Czar Mark Lloyd wants the FCC to force good white people in positions of power in the broadcast industry to step down to make room for more African-Americans and gays to fill those positions. Do you agree or disagree that this presents a threat to free speech?
It’s worth noting that this question only elicited 51 percent support.
Are there any other non-existent administration policies that polling outfits should be asking peopleabout?

It’s not so much that there are no unqualified white people — it’s that every single minority is even more unqualified than an incompetent white person.
I read this “poll” when it came out… that question in particular is about as valid as asking “do you still beat your wife?” At best its a very poorly constructed poll, which would be lazy, sloppy, and clumsy. Another way to put it would be that the poll was intended to come up with the responses that the author wanted, which would be deceitful, duplicitous, and unethical.

Are you all forgetting the American Dream? That by our own hard work, we can become successful? Well, if we accept this nonsense, it follows immediately that groups that aren’t successful, like blacks or hispanics, aren’t working hard enough.

I think they should ask if the people support Obama’s plan to replace the Lincoln memorial with a statue of a gay black man, replace all the bibles in all the pews in this country with Quorns, and enforce a unicorn embargo against Spain. I think that would be a fun poll to conduct. That evil Obama, trying to stop the unicorns from bring light and joy to the people of Spain! :)

The idea that the harder you work, the more successful you’ll be, has been discredited time and time again.
Who you know, who and where you are, and just plain luck have as much or more to do with it.

idlemind is correct, hard work does not gurantee advancement, who you know does. I work in Governmet and our mayor promots those that work on his campaign and he could care less for the rest of us. We work hard and get demoted by him promoting less qualified people that are talentless.

The fact is, 92% of U.S. radio stations are owned by white men, which explains in part why Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh rule the airwaves; women and people of color make other programming choices when given a chance at broadcast ownership. That is the paradigm Lloyd is trying to shift.

Its not his business to shift anything. Lloyd is a communist who wants to kick conservatives off the air.
If people want to listen to progressives, socialists, liberals etc they will and there will be a market.
It just so happens the demographic doesn’t support that type of show. So the Feds should step in and FORCE people off the air? Can you say dictatorship?
Glenn and Rush “rule” the airwaves because people like their message and content. Air America is crap every time i try to listen to it, the shows are terrible, the hosts are terrible, the callers are insane and they dont even advertise things I would like to buy.
Far be it that someone who disagrees with Glenn or Rush call in with a valid argument and NOT start calling names and referring to Bush instantly. I never hear someone who can call in and have a prepared argument that might work as a discussion.
I have listened to Rush since he went national, I am a member of the Libertarian party for 15 years. Give me an opposing viewpoint host that isnt a foulmouthed moron and I will listen to them. I did listen to Alan Colmes till they replaced him with Dennis Miller.
People of color do listen to the Fox snooze idiots. My husbands lets the guys he works with listen to what they want and they turn to Rush even though they hate him. It generates conversation, mostly heated. Anyone that says get rid of a whole race to promote better anything is wrong, it really is just that simple.
Two things, questions will always be analyzed, deciphered and probed for hidden meaning. While I do agree that BOTH sides of an issue try to set up the other with the chosen words, maybe that is why politicians never answer the question. Concentrate a little more on the content of the answer!
The use of the RF spectrum dedicated to broadcasting in the USA is screwed up. Out hear in the KS stick every radio station but the public radio stations carries, carries Kansas City baseball and football, game being played, it’s the game or public radio. I have nothing against either, but multiple stations carring the same game is a gross waste of a limit resource. A person with the expressed intent to carry right wing talk how host only was given a license to broadcast, that’s not free speech either. I miss the old talk radio, where a calm host interviews a variety of guests, we know the guest has something to sell, but rarely hour after hour high volume ranting. I’d rather listen to Muzak , than left or right wing talk radio.
Hard Work? For most hard work nets them a worn out body, if they are lucky they have a comfortable life, before the body says no more. There is a lot of who you know, and getting favorable treatment on many levels.
