An interesting catch from Think Progress (1/26/10)–from an interview conducted last year by Fox News‘ Chris Wallace (9/27/09) with pretend pimp James O’Keefe:
WALLACE: O’Keefe says he wants to do more undercover films, and he has some targets in mind. He says his friends always tell him the next sting will never work.
O’KEEFE: I disagree with them. I think that I’ll come up with a new strategy and I’ll get them to say yes.
This was, of course, before O’Keefe and three of his friends were arrested while apparently trying to wiretap the phones of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Update: O’Keefe denies that he was trying to wiretap Landrieu’s phone. He and his companions were not charged under the wiretapping statute, but with “maliciously interfering with a telephone system operated and controlled by the U.S. government” (CBSNews.com, 1/29/10).

This is too funny.
First he creates a false film to vilify ACORN and then gets busted trying to wiretap a Senator.

The Republicans who supported this criminal are rather quiet now.
31 Republican congresspeople co-sponsored a resolution written by Pete Olsen honoring O’Keefe for his reporting skills in exposing ACORN. As far as I know, none have commented on Mr. O’Keefe’s current travails. Here are the 31–if one of them is yours, drop them a note…

It should be interesting to watch this play out.
No one from Mississippi? I’m originally from The Great and Sovereign State ™, y’see, so that’s a surprise, for obvious reasons.
Intel in that Huffington piece that I haven’t seen elsewhere – worth a click and read.
O’Keefe is just another junior bonehead. Let’s face it, the RepubThug Party is full of boneheads!
I wonder what the government’s response would have be if his name was O’hammed? Might it have included terrorism?
Who funded O’Keefe, that’s what i want to know……..can anybody say Watergate?
Corporate media, especially FOX, gave this guy lots of attention when he was doing his distorted and biased ‘expose’ of ACORN. They even called it ‘journalism’. But now that he himself is in hot water, not so much. Other than MSNBC, FAIR, & Huffpo, I’ve seen next to zero coverage of this story.
I am not surprised this is getting almost no coverage. The right-wing has almost total control of TV and Radio, and they censor the news heavily. I remember participating in huge anti-Iraq-invasion rallies that got no national coverage and almost no local coverage. They didn’t cover the truth about the invasion or the reality of its effects either, hiding even our own soldiers’ coffins. The same is true for more recent anti-global warming rallies. Even msnbc.com, which used to cover global warming, had no mention of the rallies the next day when I checked. These were the most extensive environmental rallies in history, and they were simply ignored. On the other hand, the relatively puny teabagger protests got tons of coverage, night after night. This is filtering the news to shape public opinion. It is deliberate censorship and propaganda. I stopped watching the news years ago because of this, much preferring to read it online, where I can decide whether I want to read something or not. But even there, you can’t trust the mainstream news sites to cover many of the most important things well, if they even cover them at all. Fortunately there are alternative places, like truthout.org, huffintonpost, and projectcensored.org where you can get some of the information that is censored elsewhere.
