More War = Aid to Afghans

Peter Hart

The Washington Post headline overa story about Joe Biden’s remarksthat U.S. military forces would stay in Afghanistan after the supposed 2014 withdrawal deadline “if the Afghan people want it” is:

Biden Promises Long-Term Aid to Afghans

Of course, if theU.S. troop presence in Afghanistancame down to what the “Afghan people want,” it might end sooner than that.

The war drags on, and on, and on,and on….more mission leap than mission creep!

Usually when you charge services or goods on a credit card you receive something of value.

In the beginning of WW2 America had an army about as big as Brazil. We had a handful of carriers.By its end 4 years later we had million of men under arms 150 carriers and a 700 plus ship navy.Thousands of bombers 10s of thousands of tanks etc etc.
My point?Ten years after the start of this war what have the Afghan people done to build their wall against tyranny”?We” seem to be that wall.”WE” are the Afghan military. We have become nation builders in an endless war of dark age religious beliefs. We must be told the truth about what is needed for them to take the reigns. How long it will take? Why is it not working? And lastly are we simply occupying enemy territory with no end in sight? This war began because we were attacked. We need not apologize. Our armed forces were magnificent. We owe it to them to answer the question…..WHY do we march now?And WHERE will we end?

National Security and Defense are important. Regulating industry within our borders is just as important as prosecuting wars outside our borders. Wouldn’t available jobs be a reward for American Service-men-and-women returning from duty overseas? Just how much more War can American taxpayers support? Has anyone given us the actual price tag? Campare the value of tax dollars spent for infrastructure to those spent on war tools designed to self-destruct.

What’s FAIR

FAIR is the national progressive media watchdog group, challenging corporate media bias, spin and misinformation. We work to invigorate the First Amendment by advocating for greater diversity in the press and by scrutinizing media practices that marginalize public interest, minority and dissenting viewpoints. We expose neglected news stories and defend working journalists when they are muzzled. As a progressive group, we believe that structural reform is ultimately needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting and promote strong non-profit sources of information.
