This is an actual CNN.com headline:
Palin Re-Tweet Raises Questions
And the actual lead paragraph:
Normally, it’s what Sarah Palin tweets that makes news. This time it’s what she has re-tweeted.
The “substance” is that Palin retweeted a comment promoting Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal.
The piece ends:
A Palin spokesperson was not immediately available for comment but Rebecca Mansour, a Palin aide, subsequently expressed skepticism on Twitter that the media would take notice of Palin re-tweeting “something that stands [with] gays.”
The media not taking notice of something that Sarah Palin said? Don’t bet on it.
This reminds of NBC reporter Kelly O’Donnell‘s New Year’s Resolution for Palin on this weekend’s Chris Matthews Show:
MATTHEWS: And how about a resolution for Sarah Palin? Kelly?
O’DONNELL: Well, I think when people talk about her not knowing enough on big issues…
MATTHEWS:Yeah.
O’DONNELL: …instead of reaching all the way to look like she’s worldly and so knowledgeable on big issues, demonstrate competence on smaller issues as they come up, things where she does not already have a wheelhouse, not energy where she was good in Alaska…
MATTHEWS: Yeah.
O’DONNELL: …but new issues. Not reach too much, build a base of people who think she knows what she’s talking about.
How about a New Year’s resolution for all corporate media pundits and reporters: Don’t spend any time talking about what the half-term former governor of Alaska says.

Peter, the big fuss is because it’s generally believed that not Sarah Palin but an underling retweeted Miss Bruces’s comments. Her staff are inexperienced, and it looked a harmless enough comment at first glance: it was Tammy Bruce; it was sarcastic; it jabbed at “good old boys” in the GOP closet …. what’s not to like?
This is simply a practice attempt by the media to hold Palin accountable. In any case, it’s something she will have to answer for at some point. Well, maybe not answer, exactly, but toss some words up into the air and see how they land.
The Palin camp has attempted to delete tweets in the past, but learned that it only makes matters worse. There’s nothing to do but ride this out behind locked doors.
Underlying message of article:
More taking it for granted that Palin is a dolt folks?Keep wishing.I noticed today Obama said he was in effect withdrawing the “death panel legislation”(after republican attacks)Well goodie. But Wait a minute……I thought it did not exist?Palin said it did,Obama said it didnt. Now he said it doesnt anymore. She says it did…..and may again. So Palin was right all along?and Obama was either wrong, or lying.Hmmmm?
Look Palin is attacked because she is feared by the left. That is always the measuring rod to look to.That is the lefts methodology. They are trying to play the ‘she is an idiot routine”Yawn………..Same old game.Every conservative is grey matter weak.Every lib is a learned sage.Look She is more qualified on all counts than Obama was going into the presidency. Her core values and beliefs are in line with where America came from- and is going. She is a classic straight shooter. He is like nailing jello to a wall.It does not take any great intelligence to be a shifty eyed mealy mouthed two faced lump of soft clay.It just takes a politition with “feet” of clay.So If you mean to debate her- stand up to the plate like a man.Because if you snort in derision and walk away I got a feeling this barracuda is gonna drag you back by your oh so elitist ass.New years resolution.Tea party is sitting at your table wether you like it or not…Tweet that
Still a Palin world in 2011 eh?
Madam president 2012 A nice ring to it.
How far does a right winger have to shove their right wing head up their right wing ass to conclude that Palin isn’t an unqualified idiot?
Aperocktoligist
In the past all conservatives were hit with this monicker.Sarah is just the latest. And seeing the huge wins in this country in the last election(and the coming ones)it would seem the teeming millions are now all”unqualified idiots”according to you.So as your liberal mindset is transcended, and marginalized across a re awakening country, I can only say good luck to you in your oft used strategy of calling everyone an idiot -and asking people to cover their ears, and their eyes.I have been in liberal hives where Sarah is called an idiot and no further discussion is needed.I love to ask those folks to enumerate Palins beliefs, and policies. Not a clue.Gallop polls indicate 52 % agree with her.And 29% with Obama.Obama and Biden.BAM and BITEME.Yeah there is pair of rocket scientists.Good lord if only you had one firing brain cell to throw into the argument. As dumb as I always believed they were- I always gave them the respect to weigh their policies.Lets try to do the same across the isle.
“Gallop polls indicate 52 % agree with her.And 29% with Obama.”
This is about the 5th time here at the FAIR blog that poor Mikey has dragged out this “poll”…the problem is the numbers were 52-40 and it wasn’t conducted by an actual polling company, in this case, gallup…it was a push poll done by famous republican hack scotty rasmussen…
For goodness sake, if you’re going to continued to drag out utterly irrelevant talking points, at least get the details straight….
The wall, Helen Bedd, the wall does not concede, not ever. The wall does as the wall does. The wall, like all walls, is simply that: A wall, neither good nor bad, gay or straight, Northern or Southern, Communista or Sociallista, Cub fan or Sox fan. The wall carries on, and there ain’t nothin’ you or me or the Simpleton Snow Queen (and her henchman, the Twit Of Tweet) can do about it. Me? As best I can, I just walk right on past that old wall . . . .
@michael e: Looks like somebody just discovered a new website that is not kind to Republicans. Good luck with that….
Rasmussen is a Rep hack?Funny Helen. How about Gallop? As the world stops carrying water for Liberal progressive ideals I guess we all are hacks then.Perish the thought that it might be you and yours that are out of step.Sarah pisses you off because she shrugs off your antics much in the same way Bush did.Eight years and no one laid a glove on George.Couple years ago a liberal voice said Sarah Palin would disappear the minute the election was over. Her 15 minutes past.Well everyday she is up and you are down(now go run off and dig up a bone of a study that proves she will be gone in the next month or two)I will give you a hint.Debate her.It is the only way to make her go away.Show her ideas of constitutional values, and smaller governmental control in the lives of people is Bullshit.Prove that progressive beliefs with socialist programs funded by huge tax increases on those who succeed to subsidize those that don’t is the way to go,and you win.Ignoring the dissenting voices that have grown to an ear shattering roar is not gonna work this time.Prove your values against hers.Against the tea parties. My guess is it is gonna be like pee wee herman stepping into a ring with Mike tyson.Sarah is gonna spit your ear right back in your face folks. So get ready to let your hatred flow. For me i hold no hatred for Obama.Just strong disagreement. You are the ones that hate.Say it aint so
michael e. I welcome informed conservative commentary as part of any robust debate or discussion of issues. You do yourself no credit with these lengthy ad hominem attacks. In the end you just make yourself look bad. If you cannot distinguish between Obama and liberal and progressive and socialist, then you really cannot afford to complain much about the informed and accurate nature of the commentary of unnamed “liberals” from a few years ago, now can you?
Why don’t halfwit tea-baggers like mikey e realise they alienate the vast majority of the public with their homophobic prejudice and their supporting of homophobic halfwits like corrupt quitter palin..?
Oh, wait
“They are trying to play the ‘she is an idiot routine”Yawnâ┚¬Ã‚¦Ãƒ¢Ã¢”š¬Ã‚¦Ãƒ¢Ã¢”š¬Ã‚¦..Same old game.”
Reporter: “Sarah, what do you read”
Palin: “er…”
QED
R bobert has zero understanding of the tea party.About as much as Jessica Simpson and her chicken of the sea comment.Homophobic prejudice????Im reading my constitution now to see if i can find that issue.Obama what do you read??Answer…. Saul Alinski(remember that one). And still using Tea bagger and the n word for our president?Grow up fella.
Actually the biggest reader of all of them is BUSH.He is a voracious reader.Carl Rove loved that misconception of Bush.Obama is actually not a “big”reader by is own admission beyond work.Palin is fair to middlin. All three read pretty heavy weight stuff when they do indulge. Regan loved westerns to relax with.Ike ,kennedy, johnson, the same.Nixon history.Clinton pretty varied.Bush Sr not a big reader.Anyway So lets be real and cut the crap.None of these people who served as govenors, or in the Senate have any learning disabilities -contrary to trash magazine political nonsense. It is simple political brinksmenship to try it with sarah. And obviously it is not working.Amongst yourselves you are preaching to the choir. To everyone else……
Helen Obama is a progressive(he admits as much,as does Hilary)Is he a socialist? That is debatable. He believes in socialism being placed as a hybrid into our economy far too much for my taste. The only debate is what level makes you a “socialist”.It is interesting that you see what I write as attacks.Try reading what people are sending my way.Answer them with that arguement.
“Rasmussen is a Rep hack?Funny Helen. How about Gallop?”
First, it’s Gallup, and second, they aren’t Republican hacks, they’re a professional polling company.
By the way, I didn’t say that Obama was or wasn’t a progressive anywhere in this thread, that was tishado who responded to you saying, “If you cannot distinguish between Obama and liberal and progressive and socialist, then you really cannot afford to complain….

while we only have Karl Rove’s word for Bush’s reading list, even he said W read less as time went on…CNN: 12/26/08 “Bush’s total has dropped each year, says his former advisor: from 95 books in 2006, to 51 in 2007, to just 40 in 2008, with less than a week to go until the end of the year.”
here’s what obama is reading at the moment via tevi troy at the national review
President Obama’s vacation reading was announced recently, and the three authors likely to get sales boosts from the announcement are Lou Cannon, David Mitchell, and John Le Carré, authors of President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet, and Our Kind of Traitor, respectively.
Also, on Christmas, the Washington Post reported that President Obama was reading Taylor Branch’s book about the Clinton presidency.
Bush will be reading a fishing and golf idiots guide.Same books Obama will be reading when he is done. Then they all can get together on the links with the other ex presidents and share old war stories.Sarah seems like her motto is “always be prepared” so she probably already bought the books.
Michael e wrote: “Rasmussen is a Rep hack?Funny Helen. How about Gallop?”
I have to second Helen’s response. Rasmussen is just not in the league of the professional polsters, it is a “hack”, and a bit of a joke among pollsters. From Nate Silver’s highly respected site, which assesses polls and pollsters’ ability to measure, monitor and predict public sentiment:
“The 105 polls released in Senate and gubernatorial races by Rasmussen Reports and its subsidiary, Pulse Opinion Research, missed the final margin between the candidates by 5.8 points, a considerably higher figure than that achieved by most other pollsters. Some 13 of its polls missed by 10 or more points, including one in the Hawaii Senate race that missed the final margin between the candidates by 40 points, the largest error ever recorded in a general election in FiveThirtyEight’s database, which includes all polls conducted since 1998.”
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/04/rasmussen-polls-were-biased-and-inaccurate-quinnipiac-surveyusa-performed-strongly/
Any reference to a Rasmussen or its subsidiary’s poll result should and will continue to be discounted by any rational thinking political observer.
Thanks for doing that research, Michael Emmett and Helen Bedd. And for just knowin’ stuff in general.
Michael e. It is unclear why Obama decided to change the Medicare policy regarding end of life discussions with doctors. That is not an endorsement of “death panels”and “pulling the plug on Grandma.” Basically, the whole idea is ignorant. What a leap from “death panels” being something other than end of life conversations with your physician.
It is being reported that doctors are going to have end of life discussions with elderly or terminal patients anyway and charge a fee, but not call it end of life charges.
Why do you insist on rehashing this nonsense? There never was going to be death panels in which government had anything to do with patient care for the terminally ill and the sick elderly people.
You really are showing yourself to be a know nothing parrot of FOX noise and right wing propaganda.
Do you ever go to Media Matters and look at all the debunking going on there about the nonideas you spout that originate with FOX, Beck, and all associated with FOX?
Surely when you look at the sky, you see the same blue sky that I do, but what happens when you inform yourself of a topic that has some nuance and non black and white discernment to be done you somehow fall down on the job of recognizing what isa matter of real facts like the sky being blue. Or do you somehow think the sky being blue is a conservative view?
You really perplex me at your subservience to nonsense.
Hopefully you’ll believe me, but i thought about offering up that Nate link last evening….
Thanks to Michael Emmitt for beating me to it….
Here’s the most important point about Scott being a Republican pollster….
Nate: “In just 12 cases, Rasmussen’s polls overestimated the margin for the Democrat by 3 or more points. But it did so for the Republican candidate in 55 cases â┚¬” that is, in more than half of the polls that it issued.”
Obviously an objective pollster with a slight flaw in their methodology would be expected to error in both directions somewhat equally. Rasmussen failed that test badly.
The other charge leveled against him is that he push-polls to drive a narrative that makes Republicans look good and/or Democrats look bad….
Nate, again: “The discrepancies between Rasmussen Reports polls and those issued by other companies were apparent from virtually the first day that Barack Obama took office. Rasmussen showed Barack Obama’s disapproval rating at 36 percent, for instance, just a week after his inauguration, at a point when no other pollster had that figure higher than 20 percent.”
Any media outlet citing his polls going forward should add the “(R)” label to his company’s name.
Raymond you just went on a rant on me and death panels.Kind of out of left field no?Well Palin started it, and Obama finished it.He finds it harder daily to fly his ideas. As long as people are on guard- government will not be able to dictate anything between a doctor and his patient….Ever.They should stay out of what they don’t understand.
I hate to point this out…But all these bloggers pointing their fingers and saying only morons read Rass or Gallop polls.Well remember a certain cigar stuffing chief exec who never had sex with that woman.Pretty addicted to those polls he was.And how about a certain jug eared president who has also talked about those polls- and receives them almost daily?Michael does that make Obama and his political staff” Not” “rational thinking political observers?Could not agree more.As far as Nate Silver..Great guy.Won me a ton of money betting baseball. He is a bit better on some things though no where near as diverse.I follow his sight also(as does Obama)By the way is he still predicting a Dem ass kicking :) ?
“But all these bloggers pointing their fingers and saying only morons read Rass or Gallop polls”
Uh….nobody has said any such thing, [I have never seen anyone here say anything critical about Gallup, I certainly haven’t.]
And no one is saying that reading [or worrying about] polls is a bad thing, just that Rasmussen polls have a bias that has to be noted. They are a Republican pushpolling operation and their results in the last election were quite bad.
Nate:
The most accurate surveys were those issued by Quinnipiac University, which missed the final margin between the candidates by 3.3 points, and which showed little overall bias.
The next-best result was from SurveyUSA. SurveyUSA also issued polls in a number of U.S. House races, missing the margin between the candidates by an average of 5.2 points. That is a comparatively good score…the typical poll issued by companies other than SurveyUSA had missed the margin between the candidates by an average of 7.3 points.
YouGov, which conducts its surveys through Internet panels, also performed fairly well, missing the eventual margin by 3.5 points on average â┚¬” although it confined its polling to a handful of swing races.
Other polling firms that joined Rasmussen toward the bottom of the chart were Marist College, and CNN/Opinion Research.
——————-
And Nate predicted that the gop would take over the house…his last estimate of number of pickups was in the 48-54 range if memory serves….
He also predicted the probability that the democrats would end up with either 51 or 52 senate seats at approx. 50%. His performance in the last cycle was perfectly good.
Anyone who actually read his “sight” would know that.
I read them all -as we all should.Of course I wonder how much money those wonderkind lost in the meltdown.it is not after all a crystal ball.they may say the Dems are finnished.I believe their is still plenty of kick left in the old bags.
Hey this brew ha ha started with words of Sarah Palin.Heard a lot of pundits instantly blamed her for the shooting of the poor congress woman.Notice the blame on conservative talk radio that appeared before the truth was even known. Also notice when another in the endless lines of Islamic attacks happen that we are told not to blame the Islamic clerics or anyone other than the attackers. The left is always ready to cut slack for those folks.and always ready to jump down the rights throat. As he turns out to be a Democrat what are the chance of Kieth O being blamed?I have found no blame for such a random nut being foisted on the left.To the right….well done!
