The New York Times (9/16/10) points out in a write-up of its new poll :
The economy and jobs are increasingly and overwhelmingly cited by Americans as the most important problems facing the country, while the deficit barely registers as a topic of concern when survey respondents were asked to volunteer their worries.
Huh. The New York Times has spent a lot of time telling readers that the public cared very deeply about this, as FAIR noted in a June 24Action Alert, which asked the paper to provide evidence for assertions like Times reporter Matt Bai’s suggestion (6/17/10) that “the federal deficit has emerged as a chief concern for voters,” or for the Times‘ report (6/18/10) that the Senate’s failure to pass a spending bill was evidence that lawmakers, “reacting to rising public concern, have grown reluctant to vote for measures that add to federal red ink.”

The really frightening deficit we should all be scared shirtless about has to do with the scarcity of truth and honesty in the corpress, don’t you think?
“All the news that printed to fit” can’t be the watchwords of the infomedia in a true democracy, can it?
gop response: “we don’t govern by polls, let ’em eat cake”
I think we should not at this time focus on the deficit at all. Thousands of people are hurting and much needs building and repairing which can put people to work. This is where our present focus should be, When conditions start to improve and people get back to work, resume a more normal life, then we can look at our deficit and decide how to bring it down. Remember, you get what you pay for. Americans pay quite low taxes compared to every other modern western country. We need to realize that we need to pay more taxes, income, gas taxes, and where else our proper government decides. We need to end those subsidies for certain industries that should not be getting them. If our gas prices go up some, so be it. Learn to drive m0re efficiently and slightly slower and not waste gas. There’s plenty to be done – so let’s get going right away and DAMN THE DEFICIT – FULL SPEED AHEAD. Read your history and what happened to FDR in 1937,38.
Judith what the freak???????who ever taught you taxation is the first line…. best line in raising revenue was drinking. It is the last line.Do whatever our government asks us to do?Im speechless.Does that include Sarah Palin?
Damn the deficit is what Bush did(wrongly)and his economy was good for 7 years all in all.He had a pad.Obamas economy is….well it is not in any shape to add more onto the mountain he and Bush spent in Bushes last year ….And Obamas tenure so far where spending shot through the roof .None of this spending has helped so far in any way.we need to get going.By freeing the economy. Not subsidizing it.FDR’s nightmare years where the new deal blew the depression into the GREAT depression
Rassmussan today reports 52 % say their views are more like Sarah Palins than Obamas.Take it from someone who has 25 plus years in politics and family ties going back twice that. That is a scary pole for Obama. It seems like nothing but is in fact devastating news. All flows from people simply agreeing with you.Dems would hope Palins numbers would be in the 5% range.
Obamas prez rating today is -19.Wow wow wow.You know I knew what would happen when he was elected.I take no great pat on the back for hitting it on the nail head.It was after all an easy call. But a part of me….that part that still looks for Santa in the night sky wondered if something he proposed would work beyond what I (and others)were able to see.I swear I wished I was wrong.Really I would pray that I was.But this is just sad.
