The Washington Post‘s editorial page weighed in (9/7/10) on the Israel/Palestine negotiations by noting that
the news in the West Bank has been far less encouraging. In two shooting attacks last week, four Israelis were killed and two others wounded, interrupting what had been nearly three years of peace in the territory.
My colleague Jim Naureckas blogged about this in response toa recentNew York Times op-ed. Even if you are restricting your focus to the West Bank (as the Post is),the Israeli human rights groupB’Tselem counted 24 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces from the beginning of 2009 to July 31, 2010, and two Palestinians killed by Israeli civilians.

The mass media– even a reasonable guy like Charley Rose– remain firmly in the jingoist mode. Rose, interviewing Tony Blair, echoed the subtle redundancy we hear from most reporters and commentatorsto justify our pre-emptive wars. He asked: “Why have we failed in Iraq? What did we do wrong?”How ludicrous, when he knows we were “wrong” to start with by even being in Iraq. The Post, like Rose, parrots are power-mad administrations.

To Marla: You know, your prose is God-Awful, eerily michael e.-like. Just as an act of kindness, my advice to you is dump the all-caps, and your message might be taken a little more seriously (there are a few glimmers of truth in there). If it happens again, I’ll see to it that you and michael e. are pitted against each other in a cage, with your only weapons old and un-reliable Royal typewriters.
I’m glad Marla mentioned the USS Liberty. The Israelies attaked the USS Liberty in 1967. They tried to kill every US sailor – they fired on lifeboats. The Israelies only broke off the attack when they detectecd the launch of US warplanes from a carrier in the Mediterrean Sea!
I’m sure now the US Intelligence agencies will focus their high technology surveillance on this Rev.Jones of Gainesville,FLa to see who he is communicating with and this pressure probably had something to do with his cancelling his Koran burnings. I wonder when that will come out.

Tim(the spelling girl) mentions me as much as libs mention Bush.We loom large in weak minds I suppose.Why doesn’t FAIR just refer all stories concerning Israel to a simple over arching headline like “THOSE DAMN DIRTY FILTHY JEWS”.It would be more intellectually honest to be…………. well honest, in their feelings, and the feelings of the majority of their bloggers.So from now on start all stories on Israel in that manner.You wear it well.
