I took the Obama ad as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Right’s constant (and racist) references to Obama as “not one of us.”
JDavidson is right. How else can you understand “not one of us” as that’s been a central theme since 2008.
Its easy to see not one of us another way as its older than the 2008 campaign.
Its code for things based on context. For instance, class warfare, or in this case apparently industry-siding.
All it means is he isnt on our side.
Context is important to determining “code”. He is saying, I am on your side, he is not. An us vs them said another way, hence “code”.
