This week on FAIR TV: Media should take a side on who’s causing the government shutdown. CBS Evening News wonders what happened to global warming. And Brian Williams can’t believe the stunning shift from Iran on nuclear weapons–so who was this Brian Williams guy who was was reporting on the “new line” from Iran years ago?
Take a look:

As a non-US observer, I am appalled and horrified at what is going on in your halls of power. Your leaders are playing games of brinksmanship with the economies of the whole world. Where is reason and common sense to be found among them? This shutdown appears to be but a precursor to the real, and truly catastrophic intent to renege on what you owe, and refuse to raise the debt limit, and that is what has other countries in the world frantic with worry. How could we ever have trusted your professed ‘integrity’ in the first place when we have watched a series of your leaders tell bare-faced lies to the world – in order to start an aggressive war, for instance. And now they are acting with regard only for their own political positioning, in a totally, reckless and threatening manner, to cause chaos throughout the world. I have never seen anything like this in my 76 years, and it does not bode well for the future of civilization.
In God’s name, let cooler, more reasonable heads prevail – and put an end to the ‘acting out’.
In Heaven’s name, Come to your senses before it is too late!!.
Who guessed that it could be so simple?
All measurements point to the average global temperature TREND since 1610 (the start of regular recording of sunspot numbers) being driven by something(s) that are driven by the sunspot number time-integral. OSCILLATIONS above and below the trend are the net effect of ocean cycles. Since temperatures have been accurately measured world wide, the net effect of ocean cycles has been very nearly ±1/5 K with a period of 64 years. Most recent peak was in approximately 2005.
Aerosols, volcanos, change to the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide, etc. have had no significant effect on average global temperature.

B. Edwards – The interest on the debt is paid with taxes by priority. The credit limit has nothing to do with it.
@Dan Pangburn
I take it you are not one of the top 300 climate experts who agree that global warming is a reality and we are the cause!
How is it possible that these people can hold the rest of us hostage with a shutdown? How does it work? it is as if we live in a feudal society.
How can we, the people, change this?
I am getting fed up with the way the term “blame game” has become fair game for pundits to use in any scenario where at least one side of a conflict is pointing the finger at the other side.
Sure, in some instances, there is some false finger pointing. But not in every case. Each situation has to be analyzed to understand the problem. And, yes, in many situations, blame DOES have to be assigned. Otherwise, there is no way to prosecute anyone.
I mean, the banks are to blame for the current crisis, we so often hear. Really, well the elite claim that is just an example of class warfare, and it is the stoopid people who bought mortgages they could not afford to pay back. So isn’t that an example of “blame game?” Of course not.
In this case, I conclude that the President is correct (and I almost never agree with this president, btw). It is the Congress that must act, not the Executive. And the simple fact is, the Republicans are using this opportunity to push their agenda. The health care law is law now, the Republicans need to get over this, and indeed some are. Many Repubs are urging their peers to get on with this, AND the impending debt ceiling.
It has nothing to do with whether this is the right moment or not. This is an issue of doing what Congress is constitutionally mandated to do. The Executive can do nothing other than wait for Congress. Even McCain(!) got up yesterday to tell his peers this is going to end the way it is going to end, and there is NOTHING the Republicans can do about that fact. CSPAN had a piece with Rep. King from NY who is saying the same thing.
Is this finger pointing/blame useful? Only to isolate the point of failure, not to win a political point. I am NO fan of the Democratic Party (or the Republican Party, for that matter). But we do have to assign blame where it is properly due, and then convene public condemnation to move those who must act to do so.
Unequivocal application of this “blame game” cliche is inappropriate in many cases.
My favorite saying last week on climate change was one of the top scientists saying this…..”The world would of gotten much warmer over the last fifteen years except for the general cooling trend world wide.”And how about this one.”our models were correct we thought. But we did not take into account the oceans. This led and will continue to lead to GLOBAL COOLING!!!!!!!”Jesus ya cant make this stuff up.As funny as the Obama care healthline number being 1800 FUCK YOU(dial it and you will see)
I’m really fed up with all the main stream media !!! They post nothing of the truth or real facts…are they being handled by a higher authority or just plain ignorant? If you want the REAL news and current events go to the Internet and BYPASS
CBS , CNN , NBC etc…you’re in for a REAL surprise
