On FAIR TV this week: CBS covers the Edward Snowden and the NSA scandal by asking Bush-era NSA chief Michael Hayden for help. And NPR wonders if media coverage of marriage equality is too tilted in favor of… equality? Plus network TV doesn’t cover Obama’s climate speech–but the fake newscast at Comedy Central does.

Oh Mr. Hayden, kids in California learn about the Constitution in the 8th grade. I don’t know where you grew up, but maybe some states don’t do that. BUT, the words”probable cause” are really in the 4th Amendment. In case you never read it, here it is:
” The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated and no Warrants shall issue but upon ( here it comes, Mr. Hayden>>>>>>>) PROBABLE CAUSE supported by Oath or affirmation, and particluarly describing the place to be searched and the person or things to be seized.”
I got my copy from the ACLU and I bet, if you asked, Mr. Hayden, they would also give you the little pocket sized Constitution book that you could carry in your pocket, so that you would always have one with you.
Thanks, Gloriana! I got mine, too… (the little red book, that is) from ACLU, and it now goes with me everywhere. Best thing they ever did, in the interests of our general edification. ^..^
It is regrettable that so much of today’s discussion of major issues such as the Supreme Court’s recent decision facilitating voter suppression assumes that the Bill of Rights constitutes some sort of holy writ.
The first ten amendments to the U.S. constitution were adopted in 1789. Times have changed.

Ah, then you won’t mind giving up your rights and letting the US government decide for you, what you can do in and with your life… Since those laws are so out of date.
John Q just as the golden rule is in a sense a holy writ,I would say so to are the words of our founders. Not to any Supreme power reason do I say this.I say it because they strove to give the best balance between governance and the freedom of the people to choose the style OF that governance. With the ability to change those rules as time and the wants of the people devolve/evolve.I still believe it stands the test of time amazingly well.Because it goes to the nature of personal freedom. And it build a storm wall against tyranny.
In these days we see the erosion of peoples belief in themselves. We see a retreat to ask so much of an all powerful parental government.Too much in my opinion. This is the heart of the Liberal, progressive.democrat party agenda. This is the heart of the rot that has so injured this country. It is insidious and pervasive. And its sole goal is the acquisition of power through the creation of an all powerful political elite class.A massive Fed ruling ……not governing the people for their own good. You talk of how old the words of the founder are.May i in all respect point out to you that the designs of the current administration, and the progressives far predate those words. In fact their attitude to “governance ‘is the reason those words were created!
John Q…….I respect your coming out and saying it.I disagree of course.I wonder if you voted for Obama. If you vote Dem in lower elections?I wonder if you believe that Obama and a lot of Dems believe as you do, but for Political reasons can’t speak openly?I wonder if you believe their taking an oath on this document is not a sham? And if that is so ,if you cant see(as we in the tea party do) the level of despicable, fraudulent behavior that by its very nature- must follow all their actions and deeds while in office. If you understand all this I ask you sir does the end really justify the means? If yes….you have received a poor education on the benefits of a free, and just people. You need to begin again. And after much growth and enlightenment ,help us to sweep and sponge this stain from the history of our land.
