CNN‘s Lou Dobbs (11/9/09) on the Fort Hood shootings:
I think we should point out, too, for the first time in my memory in eight years, we have seen quickly CAIR step up on the day of the shootings, the largest representative of the Islamic faith step up, and condemn the shootings instantly.
CAIR is the Council on American-Islamic Relations–a group that has, by its own count, issued dozens of statements condemning terrorist acts over the years, and coordinated an anti-terrorism fatwa endorsed by 340 U.S. Muslim organizations. As CAIR put it:
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has a clear record of consistently and persistently condemning terrorism. Yet American Muslim groups like CAIR get repeatedly asked the question why have Muslims not spoken out against terrorism? The fact is they have, but who is listening?
Not Lou Dobbs, apparently.

I just Googled “Muslims condemn terrorism” and got 1,590,000 page results.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Dobbs.
CAIR (and other Muslim organizations) are usually very swift to condemn terror or any actions that can be construed as negative done by Muslims. Not sure what Dobbs is talking about. Just because they condemn it, doesn’t mean it gets reported.
1,590,000 page results was obtained by NOT enclosing the phrase, Muslims condemn terrorism, in quotes. Google will pick up every page that has at least on of the words from the phrase.
My google search for “Muslims condemn terrorism”- using quotes: (I get 10 results per page.)

This is a continous right-wing meme, that Muslims don’t condemn terror. Continous! Even though it is easy enough to disprove.
I’d say that Muslims have their hands more than full fending off the imperialist invasions of their countries, the pillaging of their natural resources and, above, all burying their dead women and children, the innocents massacred by state-sponsored terrorism.
I still haven’t heard any apologies from the US condemning the illegal invasion of Iraq or the slaughter of 1.3 innocent Iraqis, has any one?

Muslims fair to condemn terrorism, Muslims reject Western values, Muslims are out to destroy America, Muslims are taking over Europe……all these lies are repeated and regurgitated by the corporate press and media repeatedly not merely to demonize the innocent but also as a convenient means of deflecting attention away from the shredding of lifes and rights of millions of people in Palestine and Iraq.
